We purchased a car from here a year ago and it has be NOTHING but problems. We get it's used. But it was also supposed to be inspected. No issues to be reported when they sold it to us. We were told we had a 6 month warranty, but what wasn't explained is we still had to pay for parts and get a discount on labor. Lesson learned there. But in that 6 month warranty period we have had thousands of dollars of repairs. The most recent is a headlight that they "fixed" for $1,500, which should also now be warrantied. It is out again and now they are saying take it somewhere else because they tried. So they will not stand behind their warranty?

I've gone to Star European for 20 years and had the best service of any independent shop. I think it's a total of 10 Mercedes they have worked on and never a problem. Besides that, I hang out in the back and get entertained by the guys in the shop. Just remember to bring donuts.

? Absolutely terrible experience! These people are not to be trusted. They talk smooth, bate you in, and then when something goes wrong (yes, we ended up with a Lemon from them) they snake out of all responsibility. DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS PLACE!

First time to have maintenance on my Mercedes GL450 at Star European Imports. They have a professional, informative, friendly demeanor. The work was completed quickly; an overall great experience. I will be returning for any future maintenance or service.

It seems Spencer & Johnathan (Son & Father team) have similar attitude's re after-sales and indeed, poor description of the vehicle I bought off them. (2011 MB E550 Luxury Sedan). The vehicle arrived at my home (Kansas) only to be disappointed with a first look. Specifically asked questions any body damage? Answer nome other than a slightly off color Door panel. No mention of the badly damaged rear driver side box/sill, and the curb rash on 3 of the road wheels was appalling. I had the wheels repainted ($420.00). On further inspection to include a first drive. Under acceleration the car had a terrible vibration. And pulsating front brake rotors. Needed renew or grinding down. The latter cured that problem. As for the vibration under load turned out the transmission oil was 40,0000 over service limits. Johnathan, did say it was the rear transmission mount. I had that renewed, not the problem. On reading reviews on trouble shooting this vibration problem. Back off the emergency brake. So a combination of the 3 remedies proved to be correct. ($1,100.00+). Then the next problem the panoramic roof opened, but the blind didn't work at all. Still to be fixed. My real disappointment is I emailed both individuals named above, without getting a response either via phone or email. The web site for this company is totally not what to rely on. This company typify a back street operation. If you need to qualify my experience. Please contact me directly @
[email protected] John R. I would rate this company 1 Star out 5. The only reason I give it a 1 Star is they mentioned the off color door & the service manager mentioned a rear transmission mount otherwise -5 Star would have been my rating. Smooth talker (Spencer). Never again. Please beware of this back-street motor trader.

When I first came here for service I had a great experience and the older man (I assume he might be the owner) told me they run a deal Saturday mornings for single mothers for a 75$ oil change. So when the time came I called them up to see if they still had the promotion and they did. Great so I show up and get my oil change and to have my car looked at in general because a couple service lights had popped up on my dash. A younger gentlemen with blonde/brown hair whom I was greeted with when I arrived told me that one of the service men broke off a tire stem while checking the pressure and they were going to replace it for free (because they broke it). That's fine. Then he comes back and we are discussing a missing tire pressure sensor which I was aware about and how much it would be to fix and as I'm getting ready to tell them to go ahead and fix that as well he tells me I have 300+ bill when he quoted me at 75 for the oil and gas 150 for the new sensor including labor (he gave me a discount on the part he said) and I asked him how that added to over 300 and he says oh yeah I wasn't able to replace the stem (that they broke) because the part was more expensive then they thought. Not only that but they charged me for re balancing the wheel, etc (I will post my bill where they added a ton of things that they only had to do BECAUSE THEY BROKE IT IN THE FIRST PLACE) and the owner (older Caucasian man) said that yeah they broke it but I could have broken it off while trying to put air in myself and then I would have gotten a flat tire. Yeah I could have broken it but I didn't. They did. I could have busted the tire or got into an accident but those are all hypotheticals and I'm not getting charged to fix my car or anything so how does that work. So I went in for 80 serve and I ended paying almost 150$. For. Something. THEY. Admitted. To. Breaking. After telling me they would take care of it. Do not go here they were slow that morning and I'm sure are just trying to make a quick dollar and don't take responsibility. Oh and he told me I would receive a coupon in the mail for next time I need their services(which they send out after every service). Yeah I'm good. They also said my car looked good and I didn't need anything else but they didn't have the decency to reset my warning lights. It stills says my service is passed due and to check my brakes. I'm not coming back and I will push everyone I know to avoid this place as well. Especially if you are a women because apparently it is okay to pull this kind on a single mom.

Star European Rocks!! Even my grumpy mechanic! :) I used to take my 2001 C-240 to another MB dealer for maintenance. I have never received the care, attention and honesty I find at Star European. I pass their name, phone number & biz card to coworkers, friends, family and even a woman in line at the Mariano's. As a one time, professional, I felt I was talked down to at a local MB dealership. At SEI, I am treated as the intelligent individual I am. For me, it is worth the 1/2 hour drive for excellent service!

Good people work here and they've worked here for a long time. That means they know what they are doing when they work on your vehicle. I've been going to them for 15 years.

I am so thankful to John at Star for his expert advice and amazing service. We bought my daughter a 2007 Mercedes E350 for her 16th birthday. We bought from a used car dealer and were told the vehicle was serviced and the oil was changed. After having it home for about a week the check engine light came on with various other lights. I called John at Star and brought the vehicle in for diagnostic testing (free of charge). I was beside myself when he came back with the long list of problems that would cost thousands of dollars. He told me that the oil had never been changed. He advised me on Illinois law (when the dealer was giving push back on returning the car) and also gave me other beneficial info to help my situation. He was very honest and helpful and was truly an angel in disguise. He even took the time to explain all the problems with the dealer resulting in him letting us return the vehicle for a full refund. I do not believe we would of had such a wonderful outcome if it wasn't for John. He took a lot of time dealing with my situation and was given nothing in return. We will always take our european cars to John from now on. Highly recommend!!!! Thank you John!!!

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS LOT! We bought a 2011 Mercedes C300 and was told it had a clean history with no accident damage... only to learn when tried to trade it in that it had severe structural damage that Star knew about when they bought at auction! They lied to us! If I could give negative stars I would!

I came in for a possible rim replacement for my E350 and John was able to provide a rim, tire, and replace the lug wrench the roadside assistance broke. Star Mercedes is very personable and treats their clients like family. I've purchaded four vehicles from them and embarking upon my 5th. Its comforting to do business with a friend.Paulette Grant

The woman I met at Dominic 's in Oswego when it was there game me the card and said she was the owner. Everything I stated in my review was based off my personal experience. Had bad service by this company. Period! We originally went there because it was family owned as I choose support family businesses. Do not tell me I lied and my review is false. This was my experience.
