Mounds State Park in Anderson, Indiana, is a gem for nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike. The park is known for its fascinating ancient Native American earthworks, including ten ceremonial mounds that offer insight into the area's prehistoric past. There are well-marked trails for hiking and exploring, as well as opportunities for picnicking and birdwatching. The White River, which runs through the park, adds to the natural beauty. The park also features a nature center with informative exhibits about the local flora and fauna. Overall, Mounds State Park is a wonderful destination for a blend of outdoor recreation, historical exploration, and a deeper connection to nature.

Awesome, large, and fairly level sites! Great buddy sights. We stayed on 25 and 33 during our last visit and they were perfect! There are also good hiking opportunities.

Missed the leaves changing by a week or two. Park was very busy due to running event. Still enjoyed peaceful trails. We go to Mounds 3-4 times a year. Beautiful park.

Went to the park to get some pictures of birds. I got distracted and scared off a blue heron. Didn't see much else bird wise. The park runs along a portion of the White River. It has some decent trails to hike. I was interested in the mounds as well. They were interesting. There were signs that told a bit of the history of the site. It was a decent trip.

We had family come from out of state and decided to come here for an afternoon hike and this was our first visit to the state park as well. The employee at the booth was very friendly and informative about the upcoming changes to the fees and told us when they won't be charging the entry fee for the winter. It wasn't too busy and it was interesting to go inside the visitor center to learn some of the history of the area. The hiking trails were all clean of debris and we had a nice time on our nature walks.

Mounds State Park is just a few minute drive for us. We walk there frequently. The Indian mounds are interesting to see and read about. The trail running by White River is fully wooded and beautiful especially when the leaves turn. We camped there once in a small camper. Access was easy and hookups available. Restrooms, showers, and water all accessible. There is a canoe/kayak ramp towards the back of the park. The park is not large but is worth the visit for an afternoon of walking and enjoying nature. The trail we walk gets us about 2 miles.

Very nice park and quite well maintained! Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Only complaint was that there weren’t waste bins anywhere throughout the park so people just threw trash on the ground near trailheads. Also had a nice nature center with a lot of change interactive displays for children.

We stayed overnight in the rv park with our motorhome. Didn’t know what to expect. But we were pleasantly surprised to find a nice nature center and then LOTS of trails through the hills and along the river. There’s a historic home there open on the weekends I believe. My 6-year old daughter and I walked for 2 hours and cleared 3 miles. She never complained about it and we enjoyed it so much!

We love this state park! Hiking and history combined. It was really neat looking and learning about the Indian earthworks. Trails for all ages, plus fishing! There is also calling available. Restrooms at the entrance plus a small nature center.
