Reserve the car for pickup at 2pm. I arrived at 1:58 and it was already closed. They didn't want to serve me because they closed at 2pm. At the time of booking I made it known that I would arrive at that time. 0 empathy for the customer

Had a great experience with Avis. Nice clean cars and friendly staff. As well, I had lost my debit card and they called me first thing the next morning to let me know they had found it in the rental. I will be doing all of my business with Avis!

No one is ever at the front counter. There is no bell or nothing to get attention. Waited 15 minutes this morning and nothing.I had keys to drop off. Outside Dropbox said put keys in envelope. There was no envelope.

Decent place location wise, but not a lot of spread vehicle wise. I've booked a sedan at 2 occasions only to get an oversized SUV and a luxury car (a Rear-Wheel-Drive Chrysler 300 in a snowstorm and extra charge) forced onto me because of no other availability. Cars are always clean and do their job, no complains in that matter whatsoever.The person who seemed to be the owner is really nice, and made sure to help me along every step of the rental journey, completing rental formalities and even helping me with a discount here an there, considering that I am a student.The only thing that irked me a lot was when I came to drop off my second rental car, and I forgot to fill up my fuel tank to full. I've done this before, and out of the goodness of her heart, the owner was nice enough to remind me to fill up on fuel so I wouldn't get an extra charge for that, which I did with my first rental. This time, however, it was one of her assistants on the job and he didn't inform me about the same. Now I understand that it's not his job to do so, but getting an extra $69 charge for fuel service on a $260 (extra cost included for being a luxury car because of no other availability) along with taxes and other miscellaneous charges set me back by $337, for 2 days. Not value at all. I remembered that I hadn't filled the tank as he was at the counter after acquiring my paperwork from inside the glove compartment of the car, and asked him if I could go and refuel the car since I still had half an hour left on my rental, to which he said I've already punched the numbers in and ignored me. When I asked him, why couldn't you tell me to refuel the car, he went on about how he is 31 years old and we young people need to grow up and act our age, not tell him how to do his job, when his job is to make my life easier, look for customer satisfaction so I'll return to rent more cars from there. Instead of looking out for a customer(let alone a student who barely rents cars once in a while) he chose to speak loud words of wisdom and dismiss me.I do not wish for him to lose his job, so I will not be naming him, but I would definitely recommend steering clear of Avis/Budget in Bloomington unless you REALLY need a car and have no other option available/are willing to be overcharged with miscellaneous charges you could otherwise avoid completely. You will get better service and people who actually want to lower your bill elsewhere, with a better spread of cars of different classes.

Fraud:They stole my bag which contains a scarf, charger wire and cigarette box, I went back to the office one day after dropping the car, asking for my belongs, they told me they did not clean the car yet, I have to check the car, I checked the car I did not find anything, two hours before that, the company made a transaction of 890$ due to of finding a cigarette box and cleaning fees.They charge me for finding cigarettes box, and yet, they stole my belongs, and the day after I visited them again , the agent kick me out for asking to find my belongs :)Such a great fraud, this is how they made Avis, by fraudulent people money :)

WorstWe booked a car through priceline and when we reached to get car at South Wallnut office Bloomington Indiana, staffer was extremely rude and asked us to get a bigger car on a higher price instead of the car that we have booked. He was rude and just wanted to get rid of us. We reached to get car after 15 mijutes of due time but he alleged that we booked online while entering in the budget officeThank God, Enterprise was near. We went there and their staffers got us car in few minutes.I will never suggest anyone to book budget at all in Bloomington, Indiana

This place runs a classic bait-and-switch scam operation. I reserved a car to visit my family for Thanksgiving and when I showed up, they first tried to claim the car I reserved was unavailable and upcharge me for a more expensive car, then Debbie became extremely unprofessional and refused to honor my reservation or rent to me at all after I called customer service and secured a refund bringing my rental total down to the original price.I checked online on their website and the car I reserved (and they claimed they didn’t have) is currently available to reserve for today for $10 LESS than the original price I had reserved it for. And plenty of small cars just sitting in the lot!As a result of this issue and their refusal to rent one of their many cars to me, I went from a 9am planned rental to currently being on a bus to Indianapolis at noon in hopes that I can rent a car there and then drive back to Bloomington to pack my things into the car. Not how I was planning to spend my day!

If I could give 0 stars I would. I was yelled at for parking in a designated parking spot by the employee cleaning another vehicle. Once inside the manager yelled at me because the gas tank was low, which is definitely not my problem, she got on the phone with the Columbus location and called me a “kid” while I’m still standing there and made several comments about me that were simply rude and unacceptable. What absolutely terrible car rental service.

We rented a car online and got a phone call from a woman an hour before our pickup time telling us that they don't have any cars available, and that they have SUVs available but in order to upgrade we would need to pay the difference. We weren't planning on paying that much, so we asked for a refund so we could attempt to get a rental from somewhere else. The woman on the phone told us we needed to request a refund through customer service and didn't give even give us the number, and then hung up on us mid sentence. We spoke to 3 different people on the customer service line before being issued a refund, but it didn't happen same day, so we weren't able to rent another car. I wouldn't recommend anyone do businesses with Avis, unless you want to be charged for something you won't receive, and be hung up on when you try to ask for a resolution to the problem. We will never use Avis again.

I hardly post reviews but i had to write this one for this special location. I rent cars all the time, partly because i like to try different cars and also its cheaper for me. I have rented cars at different Avis locations across the United States but honestly this one is the worst of the worst. The employee working there acts like he owns the place, the attitude is off the charts. No matter when you reserve your vehicle, you'll be lucky to get one on the date you reserved. I tried multiple times to rent a premium SUV, but the guy says its too difficult to get them, the very next day, i spot two of the premium SUVs. Honesty, pathetic location, i guess it runs only because there's one location in town. From this point on, i will drive down to Indianapolis and rent from there instead.

Horrible experience here as well, consistent with many other reviews. I rented a car from Indianapolis that turned out to be broken. I called the call center asking to do a swap and they said I should go to the Bloomington location since it was close to me and that a swap was "no problem at all". They also said the Bloomington location would be notified. I arrived to find a closed door, even though it was during business hours. A man working on a car in the nearby garage told me that the woman who works there went to walk her dog! He was nice enough to call her and let me speak to her. She was annoyed to be disturbed (even though this was during business hours and she was not there). She said that no one notified her of anything (well, that probably requires her to be at her desk and not out walking her dog!). She then said she had no cars to give me today or in the next few days. Zero attempt to be helpful or understanding. Basically just wanted to get rid of me. Stay away from this terrible location. One of the worst Avis experiences ever.
