I wanted to love this place so much. Took my son and parents for a quick spring break getaway. Rooms were not ready for early check in despite the place being empty. Pool is now open. Ants in each room. Walls are very thin. No coffee at breakfast… no one knew how to get it to work? No food selection at all.. not even fruit.

Reserved King bed lake side room. When we arrived and checked in they gave us a double queen park view room that was dirty. Asked for room I reserved to be informed they didn't have anymore king size rooms available. So what was point of reservations I asked young man at counter said I don't know. Gave me lake side room still 2 queens but lakeside with balcony so I was OK with it. Room was clean, bed comfortable, and nice view of marina. Big issues that we had pool & restaurant closed which was disappointing because I choose this place so we could relax and not have to leave property for anything because we have been traveling and been in car for hrs. Thankfully there was several places less than 20 mins away. Overall the place needs some TLC and updating but nice place. I imagine once upon a time it was beautiful but lack of upkeep has caused it to loose some of its charm. We stayed in off season so it wasn't to busy but can imagine it's very busy during summer.

Depends on what you are looking for. Off-season weekend stay to visit Indiana university. While only 12 miles away, it's a 30-35 minute drive so that's deceiving. Price for off season was very reasonable but you trade off the on-site restaurant being closed. And the free breakfast was only bagels and cereal. Room appeared clean but drains were stopped up, shower had absolutely no water pressure. View was nice and common room with fireplace and leather couches were comfy. Phone signal weak out there and wifi in hotel went out often. No housekeeping so no fresh towels or coffee I guess unless you specifically ask. I would have prolly enjoyed it more if I had been there on season for boating and full services.

Oh man, this hurts my heart. I've lived in Smithville my whole life and frequented this hotel nearly every day whether we were boating, swimming in the pool, having lunch, or listening to the band and drinking virgin strawberry daquiries. It was the place to be. They haven't put anything into this place to give back to the customers. Every single thing needs an update. They redid the pool area once but just aesthetically, and it's already outdated. The rooms are dark and gloomy. The food has all but disappeared, the prices are outrageous for subpar product, the wait is unbearable, and that's if you even get a seat. The place reeks of entitlement and unfortunately this is the only hotel, restaurant, entertainment and dock combo directly on lake monroe so they can do whatever they want, knowing customers don't have much of a choice.

This is my second night here and I am not impressed, the swimming pool is not heated properly, or the room the pool is in. Breakfast is a joke, just the dry stuff you find at a low end quick 50$ stay place. The staff is friendly when you can find them. The location is excellent. But realistically this place has nothing to offer in the off season. Both restaurants and bar are closed for the season. Dude try to tell me it’s a state park and can’t have fire pits out side , when I just stayed at turkey run and they have fire pits you can use out side. Tried to check in earlier the first day , who ever was talking to me lied and said I have to wait till 12 because some one else was in the room , when in fact no one was in many of the rooms the night before. I intend to stay here again during on season to give it a better review chance during that time. But as is sadly not impressive!I should also note I was paid to come here and do a review. Also make sure you don’t check in on days it rains and no sunshine. Fire places inside are out of order and have been for some time. I did enjoy watching old movies the second night. But one does not go to a resort to stay in one’s room the majority of the time. The guy who works on nights was the most informative and knowledgeable employee I met. He was actually worth talking with and had great customer service skills. And he was actually present when I went to find some one.Food & drinks: None in the off season!! Just a small buy it your self space by check in.

We went to this inn during early November. It was off-season, however, the issues we found, should not happen during ANY season. The room was filthy! Dirt and Spider-webs around corners. There is no game room at this facility. Since the marina was closed, we thought that we could sit by the fireplace and try some board games... Well, not only there were no games to entertain, the fireplace was out-of-service. We were told that it needs maintenance, and has been off for a couple of years. In the morning, we stopped by to have breakfast, and it consisted of rotten bananas, apples, cereal, dry muffins, yogurt. There were oatmeal packets, however, no brown-sugar. No employees were around, so we could not get any service.Since the location is great, we may give this place a try during boating season, but never during off-season.

My family just spent three days here for a wedding.Hotel staff were all friendly and helpful. The hotel is an older building.... I believe someone said it was built in the 70s. It was a great condition and comfortable. The restaurant and bar were closed for the season, so I can't comment on them. The buffet for the wedding reception was good and well staffed. The location is beautiful with it being on a lake in a forested area. Too bad the wedding wasn't a couple of weeks earlier as I'd bet the colors were spectacular.I added three pictures of their VIP guest wall. I thought that was pretty cool.I don't come to Bloomington very often, but would definitely stay here again!
