Opportunity House, or "Op House," is a volunteer-run, non-profit resale store that sells merchandise donated by community members. Proceeds from the store benefit the programs of Monroe County United Ministries (MCUM), including a full-time, income-based childcare for preschool children and the Self Sufficiency Center. Customers praise the great prices, varied merchandise, and wonderful staff and volunteers at Opportunity House. It's described as a "small department store" with almost everything except furniture. The store is open Monday-Saturday, 10am to 3pm, and accepts credit cards. Opportunity House is a local non-profit that helps support MCUM's low-cost, quality nursery school, food pantry, and cleaning/hygiene supplies. Customers appreciate the store's mission of keeping prices low to serve the low-income community while supporting MCUM. Reviewers call it a "Bloomington gem" with amazing used book finds and interesting items.
The best thrift store in Bloomington! Treasures galore and with a ton of rotating items so every time I visit I see a lot of new things. The prices are so affordable and the staff are always so helpful and friendly.
