My FAVORITE thrift shop in town. It’s like a consignment shop from the ‘90’s- an assortment of items to be found for less than a buck. A mix of wonderful gently used items. I have found new magna tiles set for my kids, women’s clothes, kids and baby’s clothes, DVD’s, shoes, books,Melissa & Doug toys, etc. They always have sales and new donations. I shop once a week to find new treasures. They take cash and card. Thankful for the volunteers who make the shop hours possible. A real asset to the community!

The prices are great, the merchandise is varied and the workers/volunteers are very nice. It's my favorite thrift store in Bloomington.

On several occasions I have observed employees/volunteers including an individual in a supervisor position address and subject marginalized indigent individuals to disrespect and judgement. I found this concerning considering the store is a non-profit utilizing donations in order to accommodate the needy in the community. I found the conduct I observed disturbing. It literally breaks your heart to see less fortunate people treated in this manner especially from a facility that advertises it exists for the purpose of alleviating the suffering and financial hardship.

To correct a couple of things: Opportunity House thrift shop is open Monday-Sat 10am to 3pm, and it does take credit cards! Items not accepted are furniture, appliances, and electronics with screens (and bed pillows and other items no resale shop will take). Opportunity House is a local non-profit that helps support Monroe County United Ministries, a low cost quality nursery school, food pantry and cleaning/hygiene supplies. Opportunity House has great finds because donations come people who know Opp House's mission of keeping prices low to serve the low income community as well supporting MCUM. I'm one of the fifty dedicated volunteers!

I called Opportunity House this afternoon about donating furniture. Unfortunately, they do not take furniture donations. I have not shopped there, so I don't know whether they are a good thrift store otherwise.

For the most part the prices are very good as it should be. Non profit shops get merchandise free and should sell cheap to help the community. Unlike goodwill and salvation army shop and st Vincent that price items retail. Love shopping at opportunity house, wish we had one in Bedford so I could go search everyday
