I often stay at this hotel when visiting family. This bar is very good. Seating is ample, and servers know their stuff. Prices are extremely fair. Food was good at dinner. Breakfast was not very good...lukewarm sides and acrid pancakes. For $18 I expect more quality.

Very good food and nice, generic atmosphere. Our waitress was very nice, but when she opened the bottle of wine, she didn't poor a bit & ask us to taste it first. After she poured our glasses, she recorded the wine. It was a nice red. It should have been allowed to breathe. I just don't think she had been properly trained. Other than that, it's my only complaint. Very nice menu.

Be warned...After reading of some recent upgrades to Grille 39, my wife and I decided to try it out for Valentines dinner. While the attempt was done and the service good, the food quality and preparation was comparable to a Red Lobster and not what you should expect in a $260 meal for two. The oysters Rockefeller was cold when served, we sent them back (Corey our waitress was awesome) and received replacements after about a 15 minute wait. My wife's herbed chicken was nice but my Crab Stuffed Sea Bass was similar to a baked cod dish with a crab cake and tartar sauce on top. The asparagus we both had were the size of pencils and overcooked. The mashed potatoes were actually quite good, but they're mashed potatoes... again for $250 your trying to compete with an upscale place like Ruth's Chris or even Sullivan's, which this was not even close.

Selected the restaurant because it did not say that it was only serving a very limited fixed price menu for Valentines Day. Surprise! And they even added 20% to the bill as gratuity. So we ended up with an over priced mediocre meal and three visits from our server, one to ask us if we had been helped, one to take our order and one to bring the bill. Had to ask runners to clear empty plates when they brought each course. We know Valentines Day is busy but not posting that you are serving a fixed price menu only, then blaming Open Table when other restaurants are is not appreciated.

Food was good but limited menu for Valentine's Day. Service was poor and I felt that the waitresses and waiters already knew that were getting their tip since it was added on to the bill.

Valentines Day. I failed to see any info on Open Table that it was Price Fixed menu with a 20% service charge. It started with what seemed to be warmed over lunch rolls. They did replace the rolls with still cold middle of the rolls that they told us they were cold. The grilled herb crusted chicken was tough and needed to be trimmed off. The lobster was good but not served with warmed butter. They did credit $40 off the $156.00 before taxes bill.

We had Valentine's dinner here. The fixed menu is $65 pp for 3 courses, but they were kind enough to provide the children's menu for our 8 yr old. I had the scallop and pork belly app with pea risotto. Definitely the best course for me. Scallop was perfect, pork belly was nicely rendered but under seasoned and the risotto was very tasty. My husband had the oysters Rockefeller, he said he wouldn't order them again. The oyster was still connected to the abductor muscle and hard to eat. We both had the crab stuffed sea bass for our entree. Sea bass is my favorite, so I was really excited. Unfortunately, the big clump of cold mashed potatoes, the skinny, dried out asparagus and the watery lemon beurre blanc really took away from the fish. The fish was a nice portion and cooked nicely, but the crab stuffing had a very distinct banana flavor and everything was cold. Very disappointing. The desserts were just not good. The chocolate lava cake was very dry and bitter, just completely missing sweetness. The blood orange panna cotta was flavorless and had too much gelatin. And the automatic 20% gratuity was unnecessary. Not somewhere we will visit again. My son's french fries had the best-seasoning of the meal.

We went this place for the first time. It is located inside of Renaissance Hotel in Carmel. We ordered 3 different omelettes and 1 buffet. The omelettes were ok, breakfast buffet was too expensive. But the server, Caleb, was awesome.

What a great restaurant with amazing food ! It is hidden in a hotel but wow! We are so glad we came in! The scallops were perfection and the staff all friendly and smiling ...happy to be there! It was really refreshing and the chef even made a special request for my daughter of grilled shrimp! We will definitely be back!!!

Wait staff go above and beyond to satisfy the customer. We love Renaissance hotels and Carmel is no exception. Grille 39 has a varied menu and the breakfast and lunch buffets are excellent as well.

New Years Eve. This was the 3rd year our group went here but we were very disappointed that we could not order from the regular menu. The NYE voices were limited and quite expensive. Service was very slow,

The food was delicious. I had the pasta Romesco and my SO had the special, Steak Diane. Our server recommended adding spice to the pasta, I went with her recommendation and was very happy with it. It wasn't too heavy, as some pastas can be, the texture was perfect, and the addition of the spice took it even further. The Steak Diane was cooked at a perfectly juicy, tender medium-rare and seasoned beautifully. On the side was a plentiful helping of parsnip mashed potatoes and asparagus. The potatoes were creamy and fluffy, and the asparagus was just in the middle of crunchy and chewy. Our server, Crystal, was very attentive and knowledgeable, and responsive with any requests. The sous chef, Austin, personally came to our table to make sure the food was to our liking, All the staff with whom we interacted were quite friendly and professional. Overall a wonderful and pleasant experience. I would definitely eat here again, and recommend that others try it as well.

Hotel restaurant was as very good. Staff was very nice. Had the chicken club and it was very tasty. We had a group meeting there and they would let us bring in a champagne bottle but I kinda understand although probably had sold more to us if we weren't asked to eat out in the hotel lobby. Not anything crazy just think because we did have a group of 6 could have been over looked and probably made more sales if they had let us bring the bottle of Champagne
