Market district is my favorite market in Indy! Every time I'm in the Carmel area I make it a point to stop by. They have soooo many fresh food options perfect for a quick lunch. I usually go for the fresh sushi or the salar bar. Prices aren't too bad considering everything is so fresh and high quality!

If ever I was going to live in a store, it would be Market District in Carmel. There's something about this place that makes me just want to be there ALL the time. The produce is pretty fantastic. It's big and bright and everything is fresh and beautiful. The sushi department is top notch and you'll find ample prepared foods to choose from. They have a lovely charcuterie department where you'll find all kinds of cheeses and sausages and olives and fresh pastas, as well as a gorgeous meat department. The bakery is fabulous with all kinds of pastries and breads to choose from. And the aisles are filled with all kinds of things that make you want to cook all day long. The little housewares shop in the back is always full of interesting little goodies, and the candy shop near the front is always stocked with plenty of nostalgia and seasonal sweets. I have found the pharmacy to be a hidden gem, with the nicest folks staffing the place. Lines are very rare and move quickly. As for checkout, I've done both self-serve and regular and both are just fine. Everyone is always super friendly and helpful. I love this place.

Where did the focus on customer service go? Once upon a time, there was a quality, high-priced grocery store that catered to the overall shopping experience. The management had great fruit & vegetable selections, an enticing bakery, and hard-to-find products at a price higher than its competitors. Shoppers paid the extra money because they felt special. Those days are gone. You can still find the fruit & vegetables, the bakery, and the hard-to-find items at higher prices, but now you will find a plethora of "self-service" checkout lanes with waiting shoppers' carts clogging the aisle near those lanes. Expect to spend more time using their scanning machines and bagging your own groceries. Staff members are available if you can find one. They might be too busy, however, to thank you for shopping at Market District. Those employees are working in the camouflaged "full service" lanes, strategically placed in between the "self-service" lanes. Management made an odd decision: keeping prices high and removing any resemblance of feeling special as a shopper. On the bright side, if you go very early in the morning or near closing, the checkout lanes are not busy.

I don't live near it so I seldom go but I wanted to get some special things for Christmas company. They did not have many of the things I was looking for which I am sure I will be able to find at Kroger. The worst thing about Market district is the rudeness of the entitled people of Carmel and the complete lack of attention by some of the staff to what the costumer needs. The cashier checking me out was more concerned about so many other things than checking me out and it took a very long time. Even people in line behind me were asking what he was doing. Stockers left their carts in the middle of aisles and didn't move them even when they saw people trying to get through. I had to wait several minutes at the cheese counter for the 2 women there to end their personal conversation even though I know they saw me. I don't see a reason to return there. Having said that, they did have some good sales.

On the way home from a Dr's appointment, I asked my wife to stop because they tend to have good produce. I found some good looking grapes and a bag of mandarin oranges. Upon going to check out, I find one lane that has someone to check you out. When I tried to hand the cashier a $20 to pay, she refused to take the bill from me. There was a coin & bill mechanism below my knees that I did not see. I was told that was the only way to pay. I nearly just walked out right then. I've had 15 back surgeries and more than 20 others throughout my body. I'm not able to bend over without causing a great deal of pain. This decision to take agency away from the clerks, you limit their ability to assist someone with needs. Sure the machines don't make mistakes, but you've now lost a customer. Even though it's my favorite place for fruit, I'm not going to be caught in that difficult and embarrassing situation that you just forced me to be involved. Cutting labor costs is going to cost you customers like myself.

We are longtime customers. Recently we tried the bakery's pumpkin pie. It was so loaded with clove, my mouth was burning. Immediately discarded.

Amazing spread in produce, meat, seafood & deli/prepared foods. Not to mention the delicious cookies (chocolate chip butter cookies!!!) & everything else in the bakery dept! My 8yr old son loves how many self checkout registers there are.

We frequently stop in for quick meals and other random things we may have forgotten or needed while we're in the area. They have such an amazing variety of food and beverages, on top of a great selection of products and services! And the front of the store always looks so cute!

I love this place, they always have the best customer service and items. I had a mishap with my checkout order & had to take it to customer service desk to get it evened out and Eric was super helpful and nice. He made it seem as if he was happy to help us; even though it was a huge inconvenience. Thanks Eric!!

I cannot say enough about how great this grocery store is. It is, hands down, the best grocery store in the Indianapolis market. The selection of quality foods is unmatched. I also love their focus on sourcing local products. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and always ready to assist in any way they can.The store is thoughtfully laid out with extra attention to detail on creative displays throughout. The wonderful lighting makes for a calm and soothing environment. If Giant Eagle ever decides to expand in the Indianapolis market (which I hope they do), other inferior stores will be in for a rough ride and loss of market share.

Very clean, great variety of fresh meats , produce, baked goods, seafood etc. Awesome looking cakes and pastries. The gentleman outside greeting everyone was super sweet and spoke to everyone that I saw as they walked up, as well as spoke as we left and invited us back They don't do that at stores where I live. We just happened to be up that way for an appointment and my 10y/o son was amazed at all the items they carry and how nice the gentleman out front was. Wish I lived closer I would definitely shop here
