I was looking for hostess gifts to take with me to Spain. Honestly, their selection is so big, and everything so pretty and affordable that it was hard for me to narrow my choices down. The staff were so helpful in assisting me to select the gifts in my price range.

This place is the bomb. First, it's in an historical building. Second, it's in a nice quiet neighborhood not far from main road. Third, the items sold in the store ranges from A to Z. It has something for everyone. From toys to high end clothes. It's a gift shop, food store, clothing store, and so much more. I noted they have a great patio area in the back and serve a limited lunch. It would be a perfect spot for a quaint lunch. Prices vary, but are very reasonable. Parking is in front and at the side of the building just barely off the country road. Kudos to the owner for a lovely place. A must stop for those visiting this area.

This is such an amazing shop. It's a lot larger than you would think. Everyone was so sweet. So much to look at and such a variety. We are from Cincinnati and this was worth the stop!

This place is definitely one of a kind. They sell so many neat stuff. Their food is what I usually purchase. Definitely check it out. You won't regret it.

It is so quaint. It reminds me of the Little Traveler in Geneva,Illinois. The Schoolhouse has a little of this and a little of that. It has room after room of treasures.

This place is off the beaten path, both literally and metaphorically. It's an odd little shop full of twists and turns and unexpected items through which it's sometimes fun to wander. If you are in a hurry, or looking for serious antiques or bargains, or pressed for time, or shopping for necessities, then you will likely be disappointed here. On the other hand, if you enjoy occasionally killing time in a wacky old schoolhouse that's been turned into a place to shop for oddities on a lazy afternoon in the dunes, you might get a kick out of spending an hour or so here. If you are over 50 years old, you will find chewing gum, candies, and snacks that you haven't seen since you were a child (and you probably think they were gone forever). If you are looking for one-of-a-kind gifts or real Irish caps, you will find them here (but they are expensive). There is an old (small) cemetery directly across the road. If you have an interest in the history of the settlement of the Dunes, or if you just find cemeteries to be fascinating, evocative, or educational places to quietly walk, you might find this a bonus to your visit to the Schoolhouse Shop.
