Kroger is an alright company with a few selections that Walmart doesn't have. It is great for finding items that are out at other stores, as they always have what people need. Some appreciate the friendly staff and the layout of the store. Customers like the ability to pick up online orders and note the presence of unique items like many energy drinks not seen elsewhere, as well as cream filled donuts. However, there are consistent complaints. A common issue is that advertised sale prices are not charged at the register, leading to overcharges discovered only after driving home. Correcting this can require an inconvenient return and an unpleasant interaction. The store often smells strongly of raw, nearly spoiled fish immediately upon entering. Pricing for food is generally a little higher than at Walmart. The experience at checkout can be stressful, with cashiers sometimes appearing overwhelmed and upset by transaction errors, which can make customers feel flustered and anxious. Additionally, no one offers to help load groceries into the car anymore.
