I see others have beaten me to the reviews. Yes, the items are pricey. . And yes, while we had hopes for a great store to replace the snoozing old owner, what we got was a monopolist that is constantly eliminating name brand items for those with manufacturers whose names sound like they were made up by a six year old in her play kitchen. Their generic brands are not pleasing to us. . But, as we say, so much for the good news! Now the bad. Their meat. Their meat. Oh, their meat. That's one thing we definitely will not buy. Including their rotisserie chicken, fresh fried chicken and such. . Where do we get our meats locally? Yesteryears butcher shop, great 5 star meats at admittedly high prices, and Sav-a-Lot for 4.5 star meats (yes, unbelievable a convenience store offers good meats at about half the price of full size grocery stores) in stores just east towards Wheatfield or west towards Roselawn. . I'd like to take this opportunity to say something good about Stracks limited produce selection. But I wouldn't feel right telling you something like that. . (We find excellent fresh produce at the Sav-a-Lot stores! . Stracks also offers Instacart participation. We used it. We then called Instacart and canceled our membership for allowing this store to be representative of Instacarts service. 45 minutes to pick up an Instacart order. Really? Yes. Definitely do not use Instacart if you think you need a quick pickup which of course is the point of it. . Jewel in Lowell offers delivery service to Demotte. . Use Jewel and you won't have to negotiate the Stracks parking lot. . Your car will thank you. Now despite all this, it is the only large store in the immediate area. Both the aforementioned convenience stores and the dollar stores are our first choice to run to but we admit we must shop at Stracks at times. But luckily most needs are met by local small alternatives and large more distant chains that deliver.

Very sad- every time we go inside the DeMotte location - we see spoiled vegetables- spoiled or rotten fruit on the shelf’s and items way past the due date- we normally tell someone- but nothing happens. I even asked to speak with management on more than on occasion about it and left my number-but they never got back with me- this store is going down hill fast and I try to avoid going to it- we wanted to get jalapeño crackers today-but they expired in Oct (just an example) we check everything at this location, but this need immediate attention before something is consumed that should not have been/ I actually took workers to expired dairy items and had to show them at an earlier visit- 26 Nov 2023- @ about 11:00 am.

Really like what they have done to this store since the remodel. I don't often shop at this location but I come here every once in a while.

Prices are pretty high but you do get a lot of choices. Wish it was a normal full stracks that has all the departments the other stracks has

Very good grocery has everything that you really need a little bit more pricey than other places but the convenience of the store makes up for the price

I go here for the occasional lunch meat, bakery goods, especially the breads bc we don't do store bought breads anymore. And mostly the sales. The sales are always good.

I have NEVER had a bad experience with the SVT in Demotte but today they went ABOVE AND BEYOND. Their website/app is glitching, leading me to not be able to place my order. I have a sick one at home and cannot take the time to grocery shop currently but definitely need to restock the kitchen. The manager had me text her my entire order and is shopping it for me because it won't go through on the app/website. I have always had great experiences here but today took the cake. Thank you Demotte SVT!

Stopped off at the strack's in DeMotte today and you self service. The 7Up did not ring up on sale like it should so I push the button for help. The person who is supposed to help me with talking to another cashier who point out that I needed help and she walks down to my station area and just leans up against the wall and doesn't come over and help. So I left without buying anything. I guess some people just don't want to work or do their job.

I'd give 5 stars if it wasn't for the cashier, Tammie. She goes out of her way to give us nasty looks and gives us trouble every time we go. I dread seeing her, almost to the point of driving to crown point for my groceries. Otherwise the store is very nice, and all other employees are very friendly!

We love love love to grocery shop at strack & Van til. This is a very well-organized and cleanly store they had everything we were looking for and many great deals. Whenever we are in Indiana we always stop by a strack & Van til!

This is getting VERY ANNOYING.. every time I'm checking out I get asked if I'd like to round up to the next highest dollar for every charity under the sun. With grocery prices the highest in recorded history, maybe Stracks would like to round down for my food fund ? This needs to stop, or I'll for sure shop elsewhere !
