Don’t be deceived by its beauty. Talk to the "memory care" residents. When my grandfather arrived at the "memory care" wing of Meadow Brook, staff updated me by email that he was happily pushing people in wheelchairs because he was doing so well. This was easy for me to believe, because he had done so well during his month at a skilled nursing facility once released from a couple weeks in the hospital due to an infection. But it was downhill from there—more than likely due to Meadow Brook's near-complete lack of memory care activities, its emphasis on apartment-style living that increases isolation, and its use of benzodiazepines/pharmacological restraint in general (something I questioned in particular that they refused to respond to unlike other facilities I asked). As my dad put it from what he saw multiple times in the "memory care" wing’s (beautiful) day room: “They were all zombies who couldn’t even hold their heads up.”My grandfather fell 12 times (that we know of) in his month and a half at Meadow Brook. He developed acute encephalopathy, a subdural hematoma, at least one UTI and was sent to a psychiatric hospital to get his “meds figured out." Yet, he kept going because he had always loved life and had hope. Unfortunately, that hope was unfounded. His first POA refused to move him to another facility—even when Meadow Brook eventually urged her to do so once the Department of Health and Adult Protective Service were contacted—and Meadow Brook never contacted his successor POAs when moving him was a matter of life or death (he, in fact, died two weeks ago Sunday) and, therefore, superseded HIPAA regulations. After my grandfather’s final fall at Meadow Brook, he was taken to the hospital yet again. It was one fall too many. The bright spot of this post is that I convinced his POA to release him to a skilled nursing facility down the street. Skilled nurses and hospice workers in that facility’s memory care unit showed him the utmost respect and dignity during his final week and a half of life.If you’re thinking of sending your loved one to Meadow Brook for memory care, please don’t. Or at least educate yourself based on complaint records with the State and also tour the facility morning, noon and night at unplanned times. I gave Meadow Brook two stars only because I have no experience with its assisted living portion, which is where all the amenities are.

Extremely poor communication (and I’m pretty sure their communication director doesn’t have any understanding of HIPAA). They over-medicate in their memory ward and are severely understaffed for what they say they provide.UPDATE: In response to the owner’s response (whoever the owner is): The family member who was in your care died. So your apology is too late. Please go spend 24 hours in the memory area yourself.

When my grandfather arrived at the memory care wing of Meadow Brook, the staff updated me by email that he was happily pushing people in wheelchairs because he was doing so well. This was easy for me to believe, because he had done so well during his month at Greenfield Healthcare Center once released from a couple weeks at Community Hospital North due to an infection. But it was downhill from there--more than likely due to the facility's near-complete lack of memory care activities, its emphasis on apartment-style living that increases isolation, and its use of benzodiazepines/pharmacological restraint in general (something I questioned in particular that they refused to respond to unlike other facilities I asked). As my dad put it from what he saw multiple times in the memory care wing's (beautiful) day room: "They were all zombies who couldn't even hold their heads up." It’s been a little over a year ago that my parents moved to assisted living at Meadowbrook. It is a very nice facility:clean and welcoming; however it is the individuals who work there who are the heart and soul of Meadowbrook. The concierge staff is friendly and helpful. Anne Marie who oversees the kitchen and dining room is kind annd accommodating. My mom and dad love the soups and desserts she makes and whenever they have fish. Kirsten in the billing office is always helpful with anything we need and has a smile at all times. Penny, the activity director is very creative and involved with the residents. Last but not least is Sam. He is the Jack of all trades, wears multiple hats and does everything he’s asked to do and more. He treats my parents like family going above and beyond with anything they need; from hanging a mirror,to putting down nonskid strips in the shower. He’s kind and compassionate and has a great sense of humor. You can’t put a price on all he does. I want Traditions to know how lucky they are to have this staff and to appreciate them.

We are grateful for the care my sister received at Meadow Brook. She was well cared for and supported during the end of her life. She was kept engaged socially and respected as an individual. We never saw staff on their phones or sitting around rather being productive and attentive toward her needs as well as others’.

I am very happy with the care my husband has been given at Meadow Brook! He loves the activities being provided. Clay salutes Jim as a veteran every time he sees him. Jim will smile the rest of the day! Megan Clark has also been a blessing. She is always there to provide guidance and answers to questions. I appreciate all the help and understanding she gives me. I am learning about Alzheimer’s as the disease progresses. This is such a hard time in any caregiver’s life. I try to remember all the good times my husband and I had in the last 54 years! He is a good man. I have been fulfilled with many blessings!

Meadow Brook has been a God-send for my family. My Dad (who has Alzheimer’s Dementia) was not getting the care he needed at his prior residence. So much so, that when the lovey folks at Meadow Brook stated he needed to be in Memory Care, I was shocked and honestly, not my best self. Mauree and her team were so patient with me, even when I was highly defensive and scared. Mauree and Megan truly care about their residents and do everything they can to be fair and equitable while also making it a special stay for your family. I owe a lot to them…and I’m so blessed and grateful they are in our lives.

My mother resided at Meadow Brook with the understanding that the staff would be able to assist her. As her health continued to decline, we felt my moms disease was progressing. It wasn’t until my mom had numerous meetings and was essentially kicked out that we realized how poor the care was. My mom needed immediate and urgent care provided by a hospital, placed in a rehab, and we found a new home. The speech, OT, and physical therapist were appalled at the lack of care provided by Meadow Brook. Once therapy began with the new home, my mom could sit up again, eat, walk, it was amazing. Meadow Brook didn’t do anything to help with this. The speech therapist would talk poorly about other patients and my mom to my family. The executive director only saw my mom as a number. My mom was a guaranteed paycheck, nothing more. If you at all care about your loved one, go somewhere else. If you want your loved one to die, this is the place for you.

Amazing facility!! It has been over 1 year that my mother and father moved to Meadow Brook Senior Living, and it was the best move they ever made. The facility itself is warm and inviting, but it is the people that make Meadow Brook stand out. From the time you enter the doors and are greeted by the concierge desk, to the aids, nurses, management, food service and maintenance staff - they care for my parents and share in their lives daily. It wasn’t long, after my parent’s arrival, that my mother’s dementia progressed to a level that she needed additional care. Her transition to the Memory Care location was seamless and exactly what she needed. My father walks down to visit her twice a day, and then returns to assisted living, knowing that she is loved and cared for. This is a tremendous stress relief, off my father and a burden of care that is passes on to the staff. Megan Clark is the Memory Care Director and is the absolute best at running a great facility. Her daily/weekly communication and care toward both of my parents is second to none. Her relationship with my parent’s has become very much like that of a family member.I can’t say enough positive things about Meadow Brook Assisted living. My parents are happy, and for that I am forever grateful.

I cannot say enough good things about the Memory Care unit and team at Meadow Brook. My father has thrived and enjoys the day to day activities and interaction from the team members. We had several options to choose from and we know with 100% certainty that we landed in the best place. I highly recommend the Meadow Brook Memory Care unit if you are considering a long term care facility for your loved one.

Disgusting, everyone is passing away left and right. That’s a sensitive subject so I won’t get into further comments out of respect to families. Management is shady. Nurses smoking vapes in the building. Staff yelling at residents being UNPROFESSIONAL! Can’t keep staff, doesn’t even TRY to retain staff, takes things personal as if we were in the street instead of being professional. A lot of times families came and did walk throughs I was thinking you can find better because there’s not much going on here.

A horrible nursing facility
