Bring back the hand baskets & u might get a better review. Terribly disappointed that you removed the hand baskets. I went in yesterday and was told by staff to push a wheeled cart around. I told them some people don't want to push a cart...

I shop weekly at the Salem Indiana Jay-C. It is a good place to shop. The staff is friendly and helpful. However, when I try to post my favorite Jay-C store, it doesn't list the Salem branch. A few times they sell out of what I wanted before I get there.

Jay-C, a charming local-sounding grocery chain and the closest option by 10 minutes. In reality, they are the pawn of the multi-billion dollar conglomerate Kroger that has seen record profits in times of suffering with no signs of slowing price-hikes week to week. Then, as icing on the cake during my last visit, I was presented with following insult: they no longer RECYCLE PLASTIC SHOPPING BAGS. The #1 source of wasteful plastics, in an era where traditional recycling locations refuse plastic shopping bags, has decided that they no longer want to foot the bill. If you don't take them, don't make them and slap your logo on the side. I've witnessed powerless workers shove wads of plastic bags brought by well-intentioned customers into the garbage can. What can they do? It's not their fault. I guess I will be burning through their free large paper bags until they decide to start charging for them, which I had already tried to start doing at the self-checkout.Disappointed. Let me know if they backed off their position.

I went in there a couple months ago around 810pm the manager gut told me western unions closes at 8pm. Tonight I went in picking money up for an actual emergency and it's 745pm and the guy told me it was closed. I've had issues with this same manager before being hateful about finding something. I didn't know he could just shut down wherever he wanted. I understand that it's hard finding employees at the moment but even rough when you start losing your customers. Sha e I've reported him before and nothing is ever done.

Of all the Kroger stores in the area, this is hands-down my favorite...and I pretty much give all the other locations one star. It's a small store, but the produce here seems better. A nice little deli, floral shop, and THEY ACTUALLY STAFF THE CHECKOUTS. EVEN THE SELF-CHECKOUT!!!!

A nice, quiet store. Despite being a pretty small location, they have a decent product selection. The employees I encountered were friendly. The displays throughout the store looked nice and fresh.

The Deli is by far the worst department in the store. I wish management would put some effort into improving it. Its been terrible for a long time.

I love the Jay C store. It carries many choices and yet still small enough to be friendly.
