The people at the bank are very friendly and very nice… When I opened my account, I was told about a referral reward for me and my friend each earn $50I got my $50 card but my friend still hasn't and we've contacted the bank five times and have been told that they spoke to the manager and still after a month of complaining and trying to remember to follow up. We still don't have anyone helping us. We contacted the bank About this a month ago and we've contacted them four or five times since then and the last person we spoke to was named Justin he promised to get back to me and never did...If we can't depend on referral rewards to be paid out then why offer them?So don't go to this bank and expect to get your referral bonus without hounding them and having to leave negative reviews and complaining I guess to Corporate Office because this is ridiculous!I will close my account if they don't make it right I'm not gonna support a bank who doesn't follow through.I can simply go find a new bank that will honor the rewards that they offer!

June 10,2023 at 11:25 am. Pulled into the drive through to find there were no deposit or withdrawal slips in the shuttle tube (how are you supposed to make ANY transaction without the appropriate slip?) Sent the shuttle tube in and asked for a checking DEPOSIT slip. The teller sends it back out with a checking WITHDRAWAL slip. She clearly didn't listen. Sent the shuttle tube back in a second time to get the correct slip. Then had to send the shuttle tube in a third time to make the deposit. That makes three times I had to send the shuttle tube in just for one transaction. Come on First Merchants. I expect better of you. That's why I go to the Grabill branch. I NEVER have these types of problems at the Grabill branch. I will not be returning to the Jefferson branch.

I don't know why the reason for the bad reviews. We started banking here to get away from the credit unions we use. I have been so helpful and so friendly.

1-star is too many. Untrained, unaware, and dangerous banking. Tellers & management are inept in any responsibility to their clients and the branch manger on Jefferson is indignant and rude. Looking forward to a response from this so I can hopefully reach someone who cares about this banks reputation.

Bank teller gave my license to another person in the drive thru. Called the person to get them to return it, they said they would return it the next day instead. Said person did not return it as stated. Best I can get from anyone at the bank is we're sorry we'll Fed Ex it as soon as we receive it.The lack of concern in this oversight is frustrating.Glad to know some random person has my info and can do with it as they please. Thanks for the great experience. I recommend putting your money elsewhere if this is your bank.

We've worked with several associates at First Merchants bank when applying for a mortgage and setting up our Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC). If you are interested in a HELOC, make sure you work with Dijana Hrncic. She has a customer service, no pressure approach. She is extremely informative and we've continued to maintain a relationship well beyond the establishment of our HELOC. Most recently, she contacted us directly to notify us of a promotional rate on our HELOC that cost us nothing to take advantage of. The bank also doesn't look like a hospital ward with all employees mandated to wear masks, like some other big name banks do. Do yourself a favor - ditch the big name bank and join a bank that will truly will provide you with PERSONAL Banking!

Just another bank, they don’t care about customers. Ridiculous bank fees and much more. Find a better bank. Can’t be that hard to find one better then this one.

I’ve been banking through first merchants for over a year and it has been filled with nothing but pointless bank fees. Plus was never told about fees. You aren’t very informative with your customers and had no help on wanting to make a change. Just get “ nothing we can do” when they were the ones who charged the fee and then wasn’t even informative before I got the account to tell me about all the different fees. Just a money seeking bank, doesn’t care about customers.
