I like dollar general. I thought it was gonna close up for a while there because they stopped putting product up front by the registers? They are pretty much shorthanded. I remember when I was a cashier. Your not just a cashier, your a stocker, a consultant, sometimes a security guard. Them workers need pay raises.

Worst DG I've ever been to. Staff was not friendly at all. Shelves were nearly empty. Went back the following morning at 11 and there was a piece of paper on the door saying they were closed. At 11 in the morning?

This Dollar General used to be so nice. I was there about a month ago and received poor customer service from the cashier. I wanted to know if the store was part of the stores that were closing. She thought I was speaking regarding the empty shelves. I was asking because of the economy and my tax dollars. I reported her that day.

Why is this store still open, it’s literally always 20% full. Y’all need to give them more hours or something. Or simply just close the damn store. It’s so worthless. We need more management that care in retail because I can’t believe it’s like this week after week

This is the Worst store in Gary! The cashiers are rude and like to argue with customers, have the worst attitudes, don't know where things are behind the counter (I believe they know but are to lazy to accommodate customers), they are untrained and don't know how to take returns or exchanges, (again I believe it's plain laziness). They have the doors locked during store hours, it barely has anything on the shelves at any given time you will see the items are in large carts but never put on shelves. It is dirty, also me and my fiance got food poisoning when the electricity went out we waited two or three days and bought something frozen from there and it was later told by us from the previous manager that it was the same food from the power outage and we were told they didn't have a backup generator. We should've sued! This store is a disgusting disgrace and I don't think the manager is qualified to do the job required. The guy that's supposed to stick will pick up one item and wander the store for an hour, he said that the manager only orders small random orders at a time and that's why the stores shelves are empty. I believe someone is acting like the store is getting full stock orders and putting the extra money in her pocket. I wish I could work there for one week I would have that place in order quickly with the properly trained and polite staff that want to earn their money not milk it. I hope they shut the doors until it's straightened out by corporate but it's not likely since corporate has actually been there when I was and boy was the manager sweating but I don't know why because they changed nothing. If you want to shop cheap please save your time and money, shop at Family Dollar down the road, they are cheaper, cleaner, more polite and fully stocked at all times.

I just ran in to pick up an item and I paid with my debit card NO PROBLEM. As I was walking out, I heard one employee tell another employee to “put that sign back on the door because I don’t want to be busy today.” I watched her put the sign on the door. The sign read: “Credit/Debit system down- cash only” … so essentially they are lying about their system being down just to deter customers from shopping. Real professional. I’m sure corporate would not approve..
Edit- now they’ve kicked out my fiancé because she accused him of stealing LOL balls because one time he looked through all the balls trying to find me a specific Miniverse brand. Well they ended up not having any in stock so of course he left without purchasing any balls so that means he MUST have stole something!? NO!!… we’ve lived here and shopped here 4 1/2 years and that’s the thanks we get. What a joke. Done with DG. Family Dollar ALL the way.

A Young Short African American Girl Who Handle The Register Sunday July 21st Between 1-2pm Was Extremely Aggressive & Rude Explaining Why I Should Have Read A Sign. I Was Speechless on How She Delivered The Information. She Has Very Poor Customer Sevice. I Understand People Have Bad Days but That Does Not Give People The Right To Be Rude With People. She Should Talk To People With Respect. With Her Poor Attitude She Should Not Be In Customer Service. Dollar General The Company Should Be Mindful of Who They Hire As A Whole. If The Employee's Customer Services Are Bad, It Makes The Entire Company Look Bad. The Company Should Not Settle For Poor Attitude Employees because They Need Employees. If The Store Can Not Find Good Quality People. They Need To Close Up Shop. The Community Should Not Tolerate Poor Customer Service From The Company Nor Their Employees. Just Because The Majority Of The Buyers Are African American Does Not Mean To Hire Unprofessional People To Treat The Buyers Unprofessionally. The Community Who Spends Money At Your Establishment Deserves Better & Demands Better, SO DO BETTER.

Dollar General 801 Lake Street, Gary (Miller) IndianaI visited the store on my way to work this morning and the nice guy manager had a pleasant positive friendly attitude. He was kind nice and helpful. It was a nice shopping experience. God Bless him. He had excellent customer service. Thank you.

The employees have great customer service! Only issue is the store is always closed and under stocked. I understand the store is in a black Neighborhood so y'all don't care about us but damn do better atleast for the white folksIn the area

The customer service is always slow and the clueless workers are always unattentive, playing with their phones and they don't seem to show interest towards customers. A lot of the merchandise is on the shelves damaged because it didn't pass quality control and the store reeks. I think this store is in this shape because of the low income area that it is placed in. Another slap in the face for low income residents.
One of the worst chain of stores.
