Hours: St Joseph Church is a long-standing landmark and one of the oldest churches in Hammond, IN, noted for its profoundly gorgeous and exquisite sacred architecture, stained glass, and carvings. It is a beautiful place of divine solace, God's peace, beauty, and eternality. The church fosters a wonderful, gracious, vibrant, and welcoming community that provides spiritual import and a sense of brotherhood. A central and dutiful support for the community is its Manna Soup Kitchen, the last providing soup kitchen in operation in Indiana. Volunteers work hard preparing and distributing approximately 110-120 nutritious sack lunches Monday through Friday from 12-1 pm, a program counted upon by many. The church also offers a wonderful monthly food support ministry, providing two to three bags filled with quality, thoughtfully packed food items, including staples like eggs, sharing hope and compassion. The congregation is attentive and vibrant, with a beautiful service and an amazing, touching choir. The church hosts community events, times of learning, fellowship, and fundraiser events. It is a source of incredible cultural, historical, and artistic richness. As a place that has helped many in need, it is a true blessing to the Hammond community.
