We had the prime rib special. The food was very favorable, but the meat and potatoes were stone cold. We did return it to the kitchen and received a discount. We will try them again but order if the menu.Kid-friendliness: The dining room and bar are separate.

Very glad to have Lorraine back owning the place again. Great neighborhood bar. Would recommend.

The food tasted good, staff is giving it their all! Embarrassingly small portions at high prices. The first plate of all you can eat frog legs ($27) was a saucer with 3 small leg sections. I understand you need controls, but bring a decent portion the first go 'round and ration it after that. After complaining we got a real plate with 8, but still a lot of $$ for the amount of food.

Service and food was good. People were friendly. Hope more people check it out. I had the perch plate very good?

This is now under a new name and ownership. We had a first night waitress who did fine but did get a few things mixed up. The perch dinner was great with two big crispy lightly-battered fish, salad and side. We brought one piece home. Onion rings were slightly overdone but crisp and good. The waitress brought us replacements w/o our asking, which we declined. The hamburger was nicely done and about 1/3 lb. Next time we may split the perch dinner and get an appetizer. When finished the owner came by and thanked us.

Really hoping the kitchen was just having a bad night. We took my father in law here for his birthday dinner, we were pretty underwhelmed. The drinks came out fast enough and were surprisingly cheap. But the food was incredibly slow to come out. The appetizers and salads were good but it went downhill from there. The shrimp was under-seasoned and most of the seafood that came out was rubbery or overdone. Several of us didn’t finish our meals. Overall it took us and hour and forty five mins between walking in the door, getting and eating our food, and leaving and we spent north of $200 but left unsatisfied.

We drove from Fort Wayne to give this place a try. Had heard awesome things in past but saw some bad reviews since new owner. Totally wrong! The food & drinks were fantastic! New Owner Ed is just getting started pretty much & definitely having issues trying to get staffing but was working his butt off with the little staff he had to make sure everyone was happy. The place has an amazing atmosphere! If you’re in this area I’d recommend supporting this restaurant & new owner. We only had appetizers & drinks but the loaded fries, cheese curds & fried mushrooms were fantastic! Will definitely go back for a full meal!

This place is absolutely disgusting. New ownership is tearing it right to the ground and has zero concern for customers or employees. Was there for almost 2 hours and never received my appetizer and both of our meals were incorrect by the time they did come out. We watched several tables walk out while we waited. Our waitress was blonde, short hair and was very rude and acted like we were bothering her. I watched someone complain about the long wait for food to their waitress and the owner refused to come out and speak to him to calm down the situation. My first clue that this place has low standards in the restaurant business was all the dead flowers in the hanging baskets on the patio. Can’t even water your flowers?? Come on, do better or shut down.

The Woods Too used to be a good place to eat, but this experience was horrible! We were handed a paper menu that the waitress said had just been handed to them 10 minutes earlier. All of the meals that we went there for previously were no longer on the menu. We had about 10 things to choose from. The waitress had no idea what came with what meal or how many sides you got with meals. She wasn't sure about the specials of the day and had no idea the cost of the specials. We finally got food ordered and it took the better part of an hour for our food to come out.. We asked over and over again for onion rings we ordered that were sitting on the shelf waiting to be delivered.. One person in our party ordered a burger with the works.. He got his burger with nothing else and he had to ask several times for the fixings. After about 20 minutes and yet another reminder (his burger was cold by this time)he finally got his fixings, which was a saucer full of lettuce scraps, huge chunks of onion, and diced tomatoes. She said they didn't have any sliced tomatoes. WHAT?? How hard is it to slice a tomato?! The waitress said a new owner bought it about 7 weeks before our visit. After 7 weeks of running a restaurant they should have some idea of what they are doing, but the entire visit was a fiasco from the time we sat down. Several other parties, including one large party all walked out because they were getting the same service we were. And it wasn't just our waitress. No one in the place had any idea what they were doing. If you have no idea how to run restaurant, don't buy one. This place is a total failure. Don't waste your time. Go somewhere else!!! By the way...the paper menu says the name of the restaurant is now the Lighthouse. I would gladly give this place many negative stars, but I don't have that option and it won't let me post this without a star. That is the only reason they got one star from us.

Under new ownership and horrible atmosphere. I can’t even rate the food because we left before we got it. Bartender had an attitude and was rude to a table that had been waiting just to get silverware. The same table had a broken glass. The owner aired there dirty laundry when he should have kept it away from. Customers. I explained to him why we were leaving and he never once apologized.

Been a resident on Lake of the Woods for 37 years so have been here more times than can be counted. Not correct to call it a seafood restaurant under the new ownership. Have only been here twice since the change. They have a ways to go, service slow, menu not what we're used to. We hear there is now a pool table....Wish them well, but we miss the Tavern and how it was run.
