Not sure where to even start on this one...First of all, the employees are rude and belittling. Especially if you're a woman. They act as if you couldn't possibly know anything about cars. Second, they are incompetent and not trustworthy at all! They charged me more than originally quoted, and I ended up having more issues than what I went in with. This is the short version of my issues with them. Do yourself and your car a favor, and go somewhere else. I do NOT recommend them! They are shady and rude.

Rude employee at the front. Gave me horrible attitude and tone in response to my questions and responses. Also proceeded to give an estimate $800 for an oil change and change in sensor, despite the sensor costing $200. Overall very rude employee that made me feel uncomfortable to ask questions about what was going on with my vehicle. He was belittling to me, a customer that did not know much about cars. I also called to ask if my car was ready for pickup and he proceeded to give me a tone and attitude about how I did not pick up the phone call in the morning, even though I was busy taking an exam. Don't know if he was just having a bad day, I tried to be nice anyways because that's how I was raised, but that experience ruined my days and I will not be going to this company for further work on my vehicle. I would advise to treat your customers with basic human respect even if they do not know much about cars.

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTThe people who work here are totally incompetent when it comes to working on Porsches. Not to mention, they're EXTREMELY RUDE!For starters, the front desk guy is a dink who should have been fired years ago. He once demanded my then pregnant wife get out of her car so he could lecture her. I should have stop going to them then, but was new to Indianapolis and went off a recommendation.A few months ago, I took my wife's car in for an oil change and provided the oil I wanted to use (after being given the okay by them to do so). When I picked up the car, the oil was still in the trunk and there was no followup sticker in the windshield. When I asked them about it, I was brushed aside and told "we gave you our oil for free" / "keep track of the milage yourself". Ummm okay? I still paid for the job. When I decided to buy a 911, I took the car in and told them about a starting issue. At the time, they said "there's not a damn thing wrong with that car". two months later, I could barely get it to start. Took it to them and found out it was a bad fuel sending unit. Why wasn't this addressed during the original diagnostic I paid for?!Most recently, I went there asking about some knocking/creaking sounds my car was making after the entire front suspension was refreshed. Again, they told me "nothing's wrong" and proceeded to discredit what I was saying in the most egregious way possible --- called me a hypochondriac amongst other things. The lack of professionalism was astounding! After going back and fourth with them, I gave up and took my car to a better shop that has way more experience working on Porsches. They confirmed that Autohaus Merkle ("AM") not only didn't do my alignment correctly (AM never gave me a print out showing it was actually done), but also improperly installed a new lower control arm and sway bar; loose bolt just floating around. Also, nothing was torqued to spec. Mind you, I asked AM multiple times to check and make sure everything in the suspension was torqued properly (paid for this). The kicker for me, the new shop I took my car to said the battery in my car didn't have a tie-down strap and was moving just enough to cause a slight knock sound when coming to a hard stop. How AM didn't even think to look at the battery is shocking and further shows their lack of skills and knowledge. My car now drives the way it's suppose to and no longer makes a single noise. Save yourself a trip and find a better shop with knowledgeable mechanics who aren't curmudgeons. I'm sure they're going to respond putting the blame on me as they've done with other negative reviews against them.

I took my 2016 Volkswagen Golf into Autohaus for a diagnostic and repair for an intermittent gremlin. The team was so helpful and friendly, and they worked with me to solve the problem. Of course, it took a couple of tries to figure out the source of the issue, but once they had it figured out the repair was done quickly and saved me a lot more in my wallet than I had gone in there expecting I would have to pay. Paul is funny, and works great with customers, and Scott is very friendly and super knowledgeable. I have noticed in my time with Autohaus Merkle that they have a lot of established regulars who choose to bring in their vehicles for routine services and repairs, and that speaks volumes to me as a consumer. I will definitely be bringing my Volkswagen back to Autohaus Merkle.Services: Electrical repair

Paul and the team at Autohaus Merkle shoot it straight and get it done. As a 1st time Mercedes owner, I am still a little paranoid that every type or repair/service will cost 5X and become a whole ordeal because it's a foreign car brand; Autohaus Merkle pleasantly surprises me every time! In the past, I've gone in for a standard oil change and this time I had a few items services (oil change, low bulb replacement, wiper blade replacement, brake pad replacement). The total price for all of these items was so reasonable my husband and I couldn't believe it!Bonus points to Paul -My husband and I bought the car gently used and the driver seat had a small tear. Over time the tear grew and became a bit of an eyesore, especially compared to otherwise great condition of the car. Paul explained this is a normal issue on Mercedes interiors and explained that they had somone who could completely replace the affected leather and fix the seat. We took him up on this and IT LOOKS SO GREAT! Can't get over it.Will be taking our German cars to Autohaus Merkle as long as we're Indy residents. Love that we now have a service center we know and trust.

Dealership quoted me $2600 for new brakes, decided to look elsewhere for a quote. Was quoted for a significantly lower price, ~$1300 for the same service here. I dropped off my vehicle and they gave me a call an hour later saying I don’t need new brakes at all. Honest, straight to the point, they’ll be seeing my business again soon.

The team at Autohaus Merkle provides great customer oriented service. They were able to diagnose the reason for a noise issue my Audi A4 developed. While my dealership suggested to replace a perfectly fine part, the mechanics at Autohaus Merkle could not only locate the issue but also saved me significant costs and time at the dealership. They are highly knowledgeable when it comes to German cars and trustworthy. If you are looking for a place that has the expertise at a competitive price point you will be in good hands.

If you love German cars and want to find a mechanic in Indianapolis that is passionate about German cars - this is the place! These gentlemen know their stuff and do their best to take care of your car. I have had my beloved 2007 VW Rabbit in for work several times and am very happy with the service and the effort made to make repairs affordable.

I tow my car to this good for nothing shop, I have never been to a shop that reject service before, they charge me for diagnose. Telling me my car is too damaged to repair, I tow the car to dealer dealer only charge me for changing the transmission harness with programming that's all. I don't think they have the brain, they only work on obvious issues on a car, maybe change to change ur breaks and oil, VOLKSWAGEN DEALER ON 16TH STREET NEAR DOWNTOWN will give u good deals, will also give you the option of TO USE USED PART, if to don't know what's wrong with your car and need diagnose THIS IS NOT THE BEST PLACE TO GO,Service: Transmission

Recommended by a friend, AHM were the only shop in town willing to take care of mounting winter tires on my 2004 C4S, including the correct spacers. Scott and Paul were totally helpful and knowledgeable about older Porsches--honest, transparent, and explained everything cearly. Installed a DOF to deal with 996 bearing issues. No problems, no complaints. My go-to garage now.Services: Transmission

Paul is just fabulous. A customer hit my vehicle in the parking lot after it was repaired. Paul notified me and helped me through the entire claims process as well as grabbing the persons information before they could drive off. Also , kept me updated throughout entire process of what I brought my car in for originally. Autohause Merkle truly looks out for the best interest of the customer. Great service. Great guys. Would recommend to anyone and everyone !Services: Electrical repair

We had Autohaus Merkle work on our cars after a friend referred us to them, saying only good things about the staff. The first car they worked on was our Jetta TDI with a bad clutch. They fixed it without issues. When we got it back, I noticed a little more noise than I remembered having. Since it's my wife's car, I don't drive it much. They looked it over without charge. We were told it was the transmission, and they didn't recommend doing anything else right now; a watch and wait situation. Any other shop would have immediately recommended a new transmission. The second car was an Audi TDI. It needed the defrost motor replaced. They took the car and replaced it without issue and for the price they originally quoted me. I haven't had any issues since. The staff have always been great to work with. Paul is the guy I speak with the most. He even saved me $1500 on an unnecessary fix the Avon VW service center told me I needed. My Audi had an air bag light that was on. Avon VW diagnossed it and where going to charge me $1500. I called Paul and he looked it up while I was on the phone. He let me know that it was a recall and stated the dealership should have told me. I took it to the Audi dealership and it was replaced at no cost due to the recall. I truly believe Autohaus Merkle is a very reputable company which has been around for a long time for this reason.Services: Electrical repair
