One of the casualties of the pandemic was countless established local furniture stores shutting their doors -- not to mention some of the big box ones. So it was exciting to see one of our local spots, Frontdoor Home Design, expand its operations at the same time. Previously located on Washington Street, it shifted to the space that used to house Coal Yard Coffee, and has brightened up the block in more ways than one. Frontdoor offers tons of furniture, lighting, and home goods -- a remarkable selection packed cozily into a tiny space, which uses its square footage effectively without feeling too cramped to get around. If anything it displays the owner's talents for setting a vibe in any space, as it's completely unrecognizable from when it used to be a coffee shop.But the most hopeful thing about Frontdoor is getting the design expertise that they offer. It's as much as service as it is a shop, and you can easily wile away an afternoon brainstorming and ideating about what's possible in spaces of your home that you didn't even imagine could change. If you've passed by but haven't popped in, it's time to change that!
