McGowan Hall is a tremendous venue. Having attended several events here, I will definitely be looking at this place to have an event of my own in the future. Bartenders and staff are awesome and very friendly. Great bar prices too!

Rented out the bar lounge for a birthday party. The price was decent for the time but upon arrival, the floors were dirty. The bathrooms were dirty. And I was instructed that there was to be no outside alcohol served as they have a bar. Well, a few people bought the birthday guy bottles for his birthday as gifts. They sat them on the table UNOPENED, and the bartender kept telling me every few minutes that people were bringing in liquor. She didn’t see any of the bottles opened and the guests were utilizing the bar. I said they are gifts. He will take them outside when he gets here smh. I don’t like that there felt like there was no privacy and I was being watched by a babysitter. The space is nice and nostalgic for the theme. I personally wouldn’t recommend it if you have a party and want full privacy and your every move being watched. Reading the other reviews, I believe that the other spaces in the building would be better suited. The people were very nice there

The building is extremely old and has an odor. It's not wheelchair accessible and not for anyone who has trouble walking. There are a lot of stairs to get to the front door. There are more stairs once you get inside the front door. There isn't an elevator, only a lift that is attached to the back loading dock.
The staff is excellent, very friendly. The bathroom are renovated and clean.

This is a good place to rent out if you are having a party. Retirement party, birthday party, anniversary party. It's huge open and they have renovated the place. There's plenty of parking on the lot and street parking. The restrooms are huge and clean. Close to downtown Indy.

McGowan Hall is a historic gem. Their new tenants, a theatre company, add a lot to the place. First Friday live music in their bar, theatre productions, and it’s a beautiful historic event center. It really is a must visit in the Old North Side.
