Some of the employees are very nice and some of the other ones are not (call center employees?). Their website is pretty difficult to use for simple usage.I try to get a mortgage and in the beginning they did not tell me my student loans would affect my eligibility so they ran my credit And damage my credit score.Hopefully my experience with this bank will change over time, but at this very moment, there's not a lot of positive things I can say.

I sought basic assistance in opening a CD account, since their website is difficult for the vision impaired. Rather than assist me or seek to connect me with someone who would, the representative told me "too bad, we can't help you." What a disappointing experience for what I intended to be a six-figure account relationship. If a bank won't take your calls, don't do business with them, especially if they are rude to the disabled.

They ask the most obscure verification questions to open a savings account online. (Like my girlfriend's mother's birthday - a girlfriend I had 13 years ago). Then when you can't answer the questions correctly, they refuse to let you reapply. And when you call to tell them how absurd the questions are, they are rude.

all customer info is facing out to the public, so the bank is putting your info at risk of being scammed

I tried multiple times to open an account online. Each time the application process shut me out at various stages of the process. I called the bank two times. I was told to keep trying. They couldn't do anything about their application program. I tried one more time and was shut out, so I gave up. Their loss. I was willing to give them a decent chunk of money to look after.

ABSOLUTE WORST MORTGAGE COMPANY I HAVE EVER WORKED WITH. I have never written a review about anything in my life, but this warranted one because of how awful they are. My mortgage has been sold countless times in the past and the only one, ONLY ONE, I have had an issue with is this bank. What a disgrace and they should be ashamed. It's 2021 and they don't offer online payments, you either set up bill pay through your own bank which takes longer than a week to arrive to Indiana because they don't accept electronic payments, checks only. This means your personal bank has to mail through the USPS a check rather than accepting online bill pay. The only other option is signing up for automatic deductions that come out every month, which is fine until you have to make an adjustment for a plethora of different reasons. So instead of just offering a one time payment option on their website to pay your bill electronically you either have to schedule your payments to come out of your bank long before the due date since it takes forever to reach them via check/mail , don't get me started when there is a holiday, or be locked in forever with a set date that you can't adjust should something be wrong with your personal bank account. If you are late one day because of of their inept ability to join the 21st century and allow online payments, their late charge is $90. I hope every single day that my mortgage is sold to another company. If you're reading this Indiana, get me on the list of mortgages you want to get rid of, I can't wait to get rid of you! P.S., they got one star because Yelp won't allow ZERO.

This is hands down the worst online banking experience I've ever had. I do have to say, phone support and customer service are good, but that's not what most of us are using, or want to be using these days. The phone app and website are not only terribly designed, but more importantly, they simply do not work. Try to set up bill pay, takes you in an endless circle of errors. Try to click the button or paperless billing, jumps to another bill altogether, then still does not work. STOP paying minimum wage developers and get this fixed. Simply unacceptable. I do not trust this service. I am not convinced my information or money is secure due to the complete lack of professionalism that has been put into the website AND phone app. I am planning to refi out of this ALL-IN-ONE program and go with a bank that takes security and integrity seriously.

Worst experience in getting a loan ever. Let me start by saying my credit isn't perfect, but it is good. That said, I applied to refinance my home this past spring and all was going well. The appraisal came back solid and everything was go. My loan officer told me were were ready to close the following week and I was excited to get the refi done. As instructed, I called him on a Monday to schedule the closing and I was told it was in underwriting and that he'd call when ready. The next day, I was put off again. Finally on Wednesday I called and was told the deal was off! What?!!! We were supposed to close this week! When I asked what happened I was told that an issue with a past account torpedoed the whole deal. Goodbye!!! Just like that I was back to square one This "issue" was something I should have known about EARLY in the process, not the week we were to supposed to close. Nothing, I repeat nothing in my credit history had changed from the beginning of the process to the end. So how did we get that far along and nobody red flagged the "issue"? They are amateurs. I went online and found New America Funding. They got the same deal done. Only difference was the we went FHA and not FreddieMac. So why didn't Merchant Bank of Indiana figure this out? After working on the loan for weeks, why was I shown the door in such a rude way? No telling. They wasted a ton my time and left me disappointed. Worst of all, the way they handled this hurt my feelings and left me feeling like my past credit issues were at fault for the breakdown of the loan process. In reality, these inept "bankers" couldn't find their behinds with both hands. THEY couldn't close the deal that the next bank handled easily. It had nothing to do with my credit and everything to do with their resourcefulness. As always, your mileage may vary. Just know that I was treated poorly, they made me feel bad and that they really don't know their jobs. To be clear, this was not my loan officer's fault. It was his boss that called the deal off. He was told the deal was undoable. I got it done with another bank, you should too.
