Safeway is a family-owned neighborhood grocery in the Butler-Tarkington park area since 2017. It offers convenient shopping with a focus on fresh, hot food like fried chicken and ribs, which are highly praised. The store has a good deli and a wide selection of meats, with friendly staff always providing nice service. Prices are considered high, but the hot food options are worth trying, especially the fried chicken and pork chop sandwiches available for under $3. Customers appreciate the store's nostalgic, 1980s grocery store feel and its role as a local spot for quick trips, whether for lunch or essentials like milk. Overall, Safeway is seen as a helpful, friendly place with good food choices, though some wish for more stores in accessible locations for all communities.
All the employees are great, helpful and friendly. My issue is there is no expiration date on any of the refrigerated drinks. The Nathan's Frozen French fries are 8 months past expiration. We only come here for Conecuh Sausage, and for that I give 4 stars.
