I’ll save you the story but stay away from here. Absolutely horrible experience.

Terrible. Expensive. Useless and needlessly arrogant and mean.

The vet is unprofessional. He speaks to his staff like they are trash. Makes racial comments in front of clients. Has absolutely no respect for anyone. Also, always running behind. Could never get my pet in to be seen in a timely fashion. When asked for my pets records they refused to give them to me. Office staff was equally rude and unprofessional. Would never take my pet back.

Very disappointed in customer service. Our first puppy appointment was scheduled and I waited over a half hour and was never seen. I will not be returning or recommend this office.

It seems like place is very behind the times. The vet acts like he has retirement-itis and couldn’t care less about his patients. We tried over and over to get in contact with the vet to go over medication recommendations from a behaviorist and we could not get a call back despite several attempts. When we decided to change vets, they told the new place they couldn’t fax or email records. They gave them the records “verbally” over the phone and didn’t give them the 2nd half of vaccine records. Luckily I kept the receipts and my dog didn’t have to go through some vaccines twice. Overall, this place is unprofessional and I advise you to go somewhere else!

I only gave two stars because they did save my Mom and step dads dog and did great on her surgery. I went in to get a check up on my boxer. They did a full set of vaccines on him and a month later he was extremely ill. After many vet visits and antibiotics and being told he had thyroid issues and needing to be on medication for with regular labs and check ups ( which all ended up being well over a $1000 ) he only got worse! I stopped the thyroid meds and seen my typical vet. They requested our records to be emailed (not a paper file, which I could understand being charged for the prints) they had the audacity to tell them I needed to be charged first! AFTER SPENDING WELL over a $1000 (prob closer to 2000, actually) are you kidding? I took him off the thyroid meds and hes doing sooo much better. At one point, the vet told me they placed the wrong dogs labs in my boxers chart. YET, he still proceeded to put my dog on thyroid meds. It almost seemed to be killing him! I dont recommend!

Well our dog Butters has been a patient here for a long time. He's been on meds pretty much all his life. Thyroid, Allergy and Diabetic. They occasionally have to do bloodwork to check levels. Which seems like every few months, not cheap. Well my mom had surgery and isn't working at the moment so when she called to refill his meds they told her NO!!! Not until he has bloodwork again. So they will not fill his insulin at all!!@# So I guess they will let me die from this. Do we allow people to go without insulin?? NO!! THIS IS TOTALLY UNCALLED FOR. NOT HAPPY!! VERY DISAPPOINTED.

This clinic just wants to make money & doesn't care about the animals or money. They don't "give out" prescriptions so you have to purchase their high-priced medications/food. The vet will recommend medications that aren't necessary in order to make money. I paid the same for an office visit that I did for an inpatient stay for my cat. I switched vets because I wanted to look for the best price for the prescriptions & they refused to fax records to the new clinic. There are plenty of other good vets in Indy to give your money to.

If I could give less than 1 star, I would! If you want to pay over twice as much for the same services you can get elsewhere, if you want a vet who likes money more than the idea of giving quality care for your dog, if you want to have to give $25 cash only for your vet records to be sent electronically, if you are fine w them doing things they don't explain to you and then charging you more than your agreed upon costs, then this is the place for you. If not, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! you will be happy you did!!

After reading all the bad reviews, I was skeptical of bringing our dog in, but my girlfriend convinced me to atleast give them a chance. The place was very close to where we live. The ladies that checked us in were very polite, friendly and professional. The place was very clean. The veterinarian was also very polite, friendly, professional and informative. He was also very funny and down-to-earth. Prior to bringing our dog in, we were given a rough estimate of what it would cost us, and it ended up only costing a few dollars more than what we were originally quoted, and they didn't try to sell us or tell us our dog needed more than what we took him in for. This will be our dogs permanent veterinarian. Thank you! ??

If you choose to use this vet, know that not everything they do to your pet is covered by the agreed upon package. Went in with two cats for shots at $190 a piece, walked out $740 lighter in the pocket book. Also, the kitten packed is advertised as $195 but then they also force you to buy their overpriced flea medication with it. Ear cleanings and blood work is extra. He will inject your pet with anything he sees fit without telling you there will be an additional charge or covering what it is that he’s injecting them with.Cleanliness. The rooms weren’t very clean, I get that considering the animals they have visit but it’s still a business and a medical facility. There are standards so infections don’t spread. The alcohol swabs weren’t held in a proper container in the room and were labeled with paper and tape. The doors and drawers of the cabinets were falling off or already removed. The facility looked low budget but the prices were not. Don’t be fooled into thinking it is a low budget clinic.Timelines. My appointment was at 215 and I didn’t see anyone in the room until 245. I didn’t leave the clinic until 3. Nearly 2 hours for what I thought were shots. They spent a total of 10 minutes in the room with us.Professionalism. The last thing I have to comment on is the staff. The vet is a salesman, not a doctor. He will rack up your bill before you even know what’s happening. The techs aren’t very educated and seem to be completely aloof to what is actually going on. They also cannot explain to you what they’re doing, why they’re doing it, and if it’ll cost you more money. We all would like the very best for our pets and this is not that place for that. I hope they will read the negative comments on here and change their practices. Far too many people are giving one star reviews and I wish I read them before I made an appointment. I will be driving 30 minutes to my old vet from now on.

I took my dogs here today for their yearly vaccinations. I usually go to another vet but will go to Shelbyville Road Vet if it's an emergency and my regular vet doesn't have any appointments available. I usually try to avoid them because their rooms and chairs are very dirty and their prices are always much higher. After they weighed the dogs today, I was informed they were taking them back for a heart worm test. I said I didn't need that and only wanted the vaccinations. The tech told me it was included in their yearly package. When I inquired how much that would be, I was shocked when I was told $200 per dog! I said I didn't need the package and how much are the vaccines alone. The receptionist told me it's actually more expensive just for the visit and vaccinations. In fact, it was $235 per dog for just the visit and vaccinations! I never recalled paying anywhere close to $400 for my dogs' vaccinations, so I declined the services and left. I looked up last year's bill from Brookville Road Animal Hospital, and I paid $75.60 for BOTH dogs and that also included their heart worm tests. So this place is charging SIX times as much as our regular veterinarian. I definitely won't be back!

My regular vet was booked out several weeks and they were able to squeeze my dog in that same day. The staff was very helpful and personable. They took great care of us!

DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMALS HERE! I have been bringing my animals here for months and they told me that my puppy was perfectly fine. I paid for multiple checkups and they told me my dog was developing great. I recently moved states and went to a new vet who pointed out that my dog had one of his testicles stuck in his scrotum. I now have to get a serious surgery done and my dog will not be able to have puppies. Also I will have to pay extra due to the procedure being more serious. Thanks to this joke of a vet i now am out extra money and have to worry about the well-being of my dog. Please don't make the same mistake i made and trust this place with your animals.
