Maybe they're just being extra safe-than-sorry; but checkout layout makes it feel like they're expecting to be robbed at any second.
Too small of a sample size for me to be sure; but convenience store prices might be higher than typical locally, even as a corner gas station.

Good selection of Delta products, ok gas prices and their fountain cokes are pretty good
