I wanted to give 5 stars because of their customer service, it was like nothing I’ve ever seen before in banking. I was out of work for 6 months and Joselyn (I’d assume is the bank manager) reached out to me personally to clear up account issues and and went above and beyond and that was very appreciated. So to her, thank you!! But I’m not allowing any bank to take from me during a time when people are struggling. I budgeted my money to the exact amount, i didn’t have any type of overdraft setup to prevent this and somehow my transactions were rearranged to appear like I didn’t have what was deposited or shown in my account and was overdrawn by almost $89. But that wasn’t the first time it happened i just finally had time to address it when i caught it again, they bank on people just “covering” the balance or just turning a blind eye.

Still not the best customer service…but they do their best, I guess. Amy Begley is doing her best I’m hoping that’s the case. The thing is Amy that you wait till the customer is upset and then you decide to pick up the phone. Masters aren’t always solved via email. None the less, not sure what type of pressure she’s under, but still think she should return the calls at a reasonable time like the other manager Ed Land. He really made me reconsider my review. But still had a rep hang up the phone when i’m speaking to her and letting her know i’ll patiently wait. And other reps should lo have access to notes on the customer so they can follow up. Not just have customers waiting on one rep. But I guess that’s how this bank operates, maybe I’m not used to that so I’ll adjust temporarily for this type of service. But if your not used to waiting on one rep, not the bank for you.

Been with them 25 years and they would not exchange foriegn currancy I had left over from vacation. So frustrating. Also, they add your overdraft line of credit to your checking balance on the app. So, it appears I have $5,000 more in my checking than I actually have. I asked that they NOT do that and was told it was not an option. Ridiculous.

The most I've ever been racial judged by a bank ever. Tried to cash a 8k check From someone who uses uses them to bank with. They made me wait for an hour. And when I asked the step outside and shake the check to another bank, they made a copy ofbitch. When I decided to take the check to another branch, they made a copy of it. After I had to walk to the Hayer's address. And have them call the bank to verify that it was real, they finally would cash it . But not without asking me my Social security number, address, place of employment, phone number I have never had a bank Take down this much information just to cash a check

They only greet white people not brown people. Based on what just happened. I walked in and they didn’t greet me. A white guys walks in right after and they greeted him.

Decent bank that urgently needs to get with the times. I love small banks and the service here is usually great. But every problem I’ve ever had here is about their ATM’s. Their ATM’s (at least all the ones I’ve visited) still require you to use an envelope and a deposit slip. Seriously, what century is this? Is the logic there that if you need to deposit after hours, you’re supposed to walk into a branch during business hours, get a deposit slip, go get a pen from home, fill out the slip and the envelope, then go back to use their ATM? Cash scan ATM’s have become the norm specifically to adapt banking into a digital world. It isn’t 1999 anymore. If you happen to be an unfortunate soul with a full-time job working until 5:00pm every day, you are literally unable to make deposits at this bank. My options are to give up a lunch break or consider their competitors. I’m literally trying to give them my money and their outdated tech makes it impossible.

My 19 year old daughter got legitimately scammed out of her life savings. The National Bank of Indianapolis responded immediately with care, concern, and a strong sense of urgency. Due to their efforts and actions, my daughter will be getting her money back!!! This mentality starts at the top with their President and Vice Presidents. They have a great foundation and backbone! Thank you NBofI

Quintessential neighborhood bank experience. They know my kids’ names, care about helping our family make sound financial decisions and help when we ask. And who can say no to a Hershey kiss every so often?

The most difficult bank I've ever encountered. Have attempted to change treasurer for a non-profit. After 4 months providing documentation, signature card, meeting minutes, a certification from the organization President, and multiple visits to their offices, NBoI can't seem to determine who needs to make approval and get this done. Just today they took down online access to the account. You get messages from them with no name, just a department identification. Terrible and incredibly frustrating. (see post script below)Post script: It is the day after making my post above. I was contacted by numerous people at the bank and by the end of the day, the proper paperwork and approvals were completed and full online access to the account was enabled. The bank stepped up with all issues being promptly and fully addressed. Just as performance issues need to be called out, exceptional performance also deserves to be rewarded as well. Congratulations to NBOI on a job well done!

I had a garnishment attached to my account from Johnson County civil courts. They held $2,054.06 from my account at this bank which is called a wage garnishment. This was fine and I was alright with this because it was a judgment against me in civil court. They had a hold on this money for over a month. I contacted the attorney that was involved in this case and told them I would like for them to release this money to pay the judgment. The attorney released the money and the bank took the money out of my account again which made me $1,300.00 overdrawn from my account. I immediately went to the bank and ask to talk to the bank manager which was Jocelyn. She looked at my account and told me she did not know what happened. I explained to her that it looked like they took the money out of my account again. She then told me that I needed to wait a day or two and see if the problem fixed itself. I told her that’s unacceptable that I have bills coming out of my account and I can’t have my account in the negative. I have been working on my credit for two years now so of course I was upset that a bill could be declined through this bank and I would have a payment that wasn’t on time. I told her that I would like to file a dispute with this charge because they basically took my money and made my account useless. She said she could not. Anyways I got mad and told her this was BS and left. About fifteen minutes later they called me and told me that they fixed the problem and my money was back in my account I told her that I was sorry I was so upset and thank you for fixing the problem. The next day I received a call from Micheal Combs the manager downtown. He told me that me and my wife have thirty days to find another bank. I told him that would be fine and I hope my next bank treats me better then they have. I definitely would not recommend this bank. The ATM is old and outdated and does not work for deposits most of the time. The online app doesn’t work most of the time. The ladies that work at the front and at the window are very nice and very helpful. More helpful then the management for sure. If you are thinking of going to this bank I would at least drive through and see the antique ATM machine they have.
