We see Dr. Blake and she is amazing. She will talk to you and answer all your questions/concerns and seems to really care about the animals. the front desk staff are always very helpful, go above and beyond to help. Vet tech Josef is awesome, super knowledgeable, and also seems to genuinely care for all the animals. it’s pricey but well worth it for peace of mind for your pets.

Could not be more happy. Had a sick cat and started calling this morning. Called 4 other vet offices on INDPLS Southside. All 4 asked are you a current client. 3 said next avail appt were in Jan. One said Feb.But VCA is more like the vet offices I remember. They got our baby in same day (thanks to a cancelation) worked with me, were super friendly, and have earned a new life-long client. Thanks to all the great people at VCA Swengel A.H.

Apollo, my fur baby, has been coming here since he was 8 weeks old. Although I was told I should search for bulldog specific vets we feel he receives excellent care here and see no reason to look further. His vet is DVM Haithcox and she is kind and knowledgeable of his breed. The vet techs are stellar. We find the puppycare plan well worth it for the value and peace of mind. I recommend this facility.

The staff here are exceptional, they follow-up well and I love the option to text. Best vet office on the south side, imho.

This is the best veterinary office I've ever been to. During wellness visits and in crisis situations, the staff has been both knowledgeable and amazingly kind to me and my pets. I can not recommend this place highly enough. Bring your pets here - both them and YOU will be well cared for.

Very appreciative for their veterinary services. During a difficult time for our little dog, Peppers. We were met with all of the compassion & empathy from this local establishment. Beginning with the initial call, confirmation of the appointment, arrival, during the procedure, & at the end of life for her. Peppers wasn't nervous or upset bc of the pure love she experienced with this place. Honey & I will always be truly grateful. I must admit tho we as humans were a mess. The staff IMO were generously gentle with affection. This act afforded us to accept this feat on Peppers behalf. There's a sign in their waiting room, "Love is...four legged...", this is certainly truer today for us. Accolades must be extended to each person that decides to enter this field, it's not easy but a much needed service. Personally I don't know how veterinarians do what they do....in our hearts we know it was the best decision for Peppers & she is no longer in constant pain. She will be missed very much. God bless each person that sees the beauty in a pet, moreso to the medical staff that displays unconditional love for those beings that cannot speak.

I love this place. My dog is my everything and they take such great care (even when she's being a diva). They called to follow up and took great care of my baby. They have earned a loyal customer and I trust them with my little girl's life. I've been to other vets and no one else compares.

my dogs paw was injured they took us to a room the briefly looked at her, they then took her to the back with out telling us what they where doing and shut the door. I cracked the door open and watched the whole thing she was completely still she lightly growled but they had a muzzle on so there was nor risk for them at all, mind you she's a small/medium sized dog. long story short they came back and told us she was to fussy so they would need to sedate her for an xray (just to charge more money) that was not needed at all they proceeded to tell us that it was going to cost 900 dollars to get a small prescription of antibiotics and pain medicine, to sedate her and xray her paw. this is just to see if there is anything wrong with her paw not a full treatment plan and knowledge of whats going just to see xray pictures. terrible place to go to they are just a for profit business they do not care about your pets at all obviously. cant charge someone nearly 1000 dollars for and xray picture and a very small amount of medicine who knows what else they wouldve thrown on there after getting xrays. DO NOT GO TO ANY VCA vet! take your pets somewhere that cares about them and doesnt try to kill you financially for next to no substance of value for my pet lol and vca do not respoind to this with "we care so much how can we change your mind blah blah blah" never again

It hurts to have to write this... For 15 years this was our trusted vet. Dr.Swengle, Dr. K, and Dr. V were amazing vets, now they have a new vet who simply does not care about the health of our pets. She is completely concerned about herself and wouldn't answer any questions about our pets health. She continually talked about herself and the 'board' instead of answering our questions. Michelle and April are great, we will really miss them. The new vet, Dr. Herr, is a cold, heartless, un-caring person who should not be working with pets or people.Due to being taken off her medication she is harming herself again. The attached picture shows what you are putting our pet through and also conveys what I think of Dr. Herr

They accidentally gave her a vaccine shot our puppy wasn't ready for, right after discussing our concerns with over vaccinating. Receptionist was rude when I requested documentation of the vaccine. Vet seemed annoyed about answering our questions as first time puppy parents. Didn't know answers to questions she should have known. (Ex: Rabies tag requirements in the county she is located in.) When they called to schedule the vaccine to be given at the right time, I said we weren't happy with them and we're going somewhere else, they didn't even ask why.

My regular vet who had taken care of my dog since she was 12 weeks old moved out of state and referred his patients to VCA Swengel Animal Hospital. My dog had been diagnosed by my former vet with liver disease. She was 21 months old today. She had become very aggressive and started biting my daughter and myself. It had gotten bad enough that we couldn’t even pet her without her trying to bite us. Over the past 4 days she was displaying neurological changes that were worsening daily. This morning I had made the very difficult and painful decision that it was time to end her suffering. When I called first thing in the morning I was told that they could not see Lucy for 2 weeks because all of the doctors were in surgery. They gave me the phone number of emergency clinics. I don’t understand why any vet would refuse to help their clients help at such a difficult time. Lucy passed away at home the same day before I could get her to another vet. It was a difficult time for her. It is an unforgivable way for a vet to treat a client. There should always be someone to handle emergencies so our pets who are apart of our families don’t have to go through this! Stay away from VCA Swengel Animal Hospital, Dr. Herr. She is cold and uncaring.

Everyone was so so nice. I gave 4 stars just because it's pretty pricy.

I could not have been happier with the service we received from Dr. Swengel, Elizabeth, and Michelle! I brought my dog Chance in and every single person I spoke to was so helpful and truly cared about what my concerns were. Dr. Swengel took the time to educate me on everything he was doing during Chance’s visit. This was by far the best visit we have had with a vet in 5 years! The entire team that day exceeded all expectations and made our experience wonderful! Thank you!
