First the good. Staff is nice, its always clean and the appointments are quick. Now, the bad. They have chronic staffing issues. Most of the time I have had to go in person to schedule anything because nobody ever calls back. Most recently was my attempt to order contacts. I called 2-3 times per week since July 17th, 2023. I left voicemails at the appropriate extension. After that didn’t work I tried all of the other extensions. I reached scheduling and explained I had been calling for over a month at that point. She said “Well what do you want me to do? I’m with scheduling”. Which, ok fair. However, I have been that employee before and I would always at least try to help someone out, and I definitely wouldn’t be rude about it. She offered to send me back to the voicemail inbox that I had already left tons of messages on.I finally decide to just go in and the person at the front desk has no idea what to do? I didn’t think ordering CONTACT LENSES at an OPTOMETRIST would be so complex. She didn’t ask anyone for help to resolve the issue. She took down my phone number and said someone would be in touch.A week went by and I finally got a call stating my prescription expired in 2022 and they can’t order anything until I come in for an exam and get a new prescription. My last eye exam was the end of August of 2022, prescriptions are good for one year.I have Medicaid which only pays for an eye exam every 2 years. I told them I was fine paying out of pocket for a new exam. BUT, I did call them a full 30 days prior to my prescription expiring as I had run out. I also pay out of pocket for the contacts since they aren’t covered by Medicaid. It seems that they purposely delayed getting back to me until my prescription was expired.Instead of manufacturing the situation in which they thought they would get MORE money from me (beyond the cost of contacts, because you know they don’t sell them at cost), they could have just gotten back to me, ordered my contacts, and then at the end of August I would have paid them to do my eye exam. This also appears to be a pattern of behavior as there were several other situations that occurred. For example, when I first had to go on Medicaid I did not realize they didn’t cover contacts.Even though I stated that the reason for my visit was to get an exam to get contacts to multiple staff at multiple points, I was not told the contacts aren’t covered until my appointment was done and I was checking out. Ok, no problem let’s order them now and I’ll pay at pickup. They then told me they were charging me for the contacts already on my eyeballs, and wouldn’t order my contacts until I paid the balance. This isn’t my first rodeo. It is VERY common to advocate and educate your patient when certain things are not covered by insurance. But no, this was not the case. Speaking will multiple staff multiple times and no one felt the need to tell me that. When I asked why I wasn’t told that contacts weren’t covered and that I would need to pay for the contacts in my eyes at that point they told me that I was told when I made my appointment. They said if I was not told they would wave the fee, but refused to pull the call. They allegedly asked the employee that scheduled me if they told me and they said yes. Employees would never lie about a mistake, right? I hate wearing glasses and will only wear contacts. No matter what, I am getting contacts even if I have to pay for them. Also, if scheduling dept is on site, why couldn’t the rude scheduler walk five feet to the front desk and tell them my issue?I know I’m just one client and that they have plenty more to get money out of and won’t care about losing me as a client, but I’m writing this review for two reasons:1. Hopefully someone from Midwest Eye Clinic will see this and take the criticisms to heart, hire more people, and train the people they do hire.2. Provide information of my first hand experiences over the years in dealing with them, so that anyone else considering this place can take the information into consideration.

Frames are cheap. I've replaced 8 pairs of glasses in the last 15 months. Some of those are attributed to kids and their rowdiness, but the adults? This is wild. When I went in with my frames that broke, the lady just so eagerly and willing spilled my amount due that was in collections loudly with a lobby full of people. My children and I have been patients for some time, but the quality and professionalism have plummeted. Time for a new eye doctor!

*UPDATE* reordered new frames 6/14 and have yet to receive them. Communication is still very poor. I had to show up to the office to get an answer and was told they would call me and never received a call. This will be the last time we have anything to do with them. Only stuck around this long because I haven’t received what I ordered. If I could give this place no stars I would. The customer service is absolutely terrible. I’ve been waiting for a month to get my daughters glasses and still do not have them. They told me they were too busy to look into it even though the package says it’s been delivered to their office. I do not recommend this office.. by far the worst experience we’ve ever had.

Not a fan, staff here are not friendly and put you on hold for a long period of time. They ordered my sons glasses incorrectly and when asked to get them order correctly the girl rolled her eyes at my 5-year-old. My glasses where ordered 05/28 and exactly 1 month today, they don't have any information and they don't know why they haven't arrived yet.

I do not care for this place anymore. When I came in, it was fine. But today, 3/17/23 I came in after they had to reschedule from 4/22/23 till today and it was busy. I was 12 minutes late with 3 people ahead of me. 3:40 pm was my appointment, 3:52 pm came in. Told them i had a 3:40 appointment. By the time 3:59 pm comes, she said she had to reschedule this one again cause I was late. I said what! It was rescheduled, what do you mean. "YOU HAVE A 10 MINUTE WINDOW OF BEING LATE". Wow! I said forget it. You wasted my time and gas. You won't see me again.

Not a fan. Went in for an appointment the Saturday before Easter. Staff was not friendly and when I let them know I would like to look at glasses, lady at front desk rolled her eyes and huffed. Proceeded to find a pair I liked and went on my way. Tried to call 5 days later to see if maybe the glasses I ordered came in, no answer. Tried calling a few more times throughout the day and left a message, never heard anything back. Called this morning 4/17 and the only way I could get anyone to talk to me was by pressing the prompt to schedule an appointment. I then asked if my glasses came in and was informed that they came in on 4/14 and that I needed to schedule for a fitting. I've been to many optometrists over the years and I have never needed to schedule for a fitting. Then I was told the only day they can get me in is the 4/24 at 5pm.UPDATE: Since I was told on 4/17 that my glasses were in and I made an appointment for a “fitting”, I went in today to have that done and after they looked for my glasses for over 10 minutes, I was told that someone must have been mistaken because only my frames are in not my lenses. I go on vacation on Friday for over a week and now I won’t have glasses or contacts for the trip ??

The first time I went there it was fine, but when I was able to go in either the next year or two the eye doctors kept first increased my lenses then next time decreased. Increased the next time tben decreased the strength ?. I had asked why he was decreasing again and he didn't answer me. He over-voiced me to the prescription teller to write down what he was saying and totally refused to answer my question as to why they keep increasing one time then next time decrease ?? I'm never going there again. I always need it to increase not decrease. I also wear bifocals all the time. I'm going to go to a real ophthalmologist not an optometrist.

Ive been a patient of Dr. antos for years. However, this may be the last time I visit this location. No refunds available, no restyling available to me after my insurance ended dec 31, even if its an equal exchange. Extremely expensive out of pocket (AFTER INSURANCE) for no reason, and I’m stuck with glasses that cause pain around my ears. The eye exam and Dr. Antos were great, however the pricing of glasses and staff knowledge will leave a lot to be desired. Its all smoke and mirrors marketing to make a buck. Anti-glare doesn't seem to work, and is not present when directly compared to another brand.

What a horrible experience. Ive had nothing but trouble here!Dr Antos is fabulous. The staff leaves much to be desired.I recirved a notice to make an appointment. I call and shes rude, says I have to pay out of pocket. I let her know that my insurance will cover if she would check. She wont check. Says for me to call back inMarch. My glasses I got last year are not good. A coatimg is coming off and its getting hard to see. Ill be happy to go elsewhere! May r this time I can get adult size glasses!
