We moved from Washington and sent records twice. On the first appointment, they had blood on the floor of the room where they saw our dogs. Should have been a red flag. Have them the benefit of the doubt but then they said they had no prior docs on our dogs so they wouldn't prescribe their interceptor. We sent labs again and I called to check but the receptionist said we have no account when my husband has taken our dogs there THREE TIMES!!!! This is ridiculous. Don't go here.

New to the area. Looking at different vets in an hour radius.
The building is a little run down. Could use some paint outside. And minor upgrades. Desk folks were pleasant enough. But as a rating for good care for your pet, my first experience here was really good. The vet was probably the most honest vet in my 14 year old Goldendoodles life. The vet could have done and charge me SO much more..hundreds. I walked out of there with just a “hold your appointment fee”. I was shocked she was so honest. Thank you!! We will start bringing our 3 cats here too. We found our vet…. Also, I am very frightened of pits and I appreciated them calling me from my car when the lobby had moved the two pits to the examining rooms. Good vet! Honest & Considerate. Thanks again

My dog died on memorial day. I went to Southway to handle some last minute necessities and the receptionist there was amazing! I wanted to apologize to her because I couldn't say much without crying. Well today she came in to my job (unintentionally) recognized me and asked me how I was doing. Such an amazing heart! I am glad she was there when I went in. Thank you. Your kindness meant so much.

NEVER TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE! PLEASE! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! If I could give a negative star review I definitely would. Let's start with, I should have listened to my dog, she never growls or snaps at ANYONE until these people. I was charged for every little thing and a single spay came up to almost 500 dollars, I TOOK THEM TO A DIFFERENT VET (HARTFORD CITY) AND THEY CHARGED ME HALF THAT 246 DOLLARS EVEN. this means they charged me DOUBLE what they did. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE PEOPLE. They have a couple awkward weird kids working in there who could answer no questions and the doctor didn't seem like she wanted to be informative at all. When I came to pick them up they told me my dog was growling and snapping ,WHICH IS INSANE because we took her to the vet in Hartford and they told me what a lover and a peach she was. This place is evil, seemed to judge me for not having much money after price gouging me. Horrible experience for my dog and myself. I will never ever recommend to anyone and I recommend that they should have shut down after DR. Pence retired. Absolute shit of a business. I hope you read this and it keeps you up at night, you're horrible. Get new employees who know how to talk and aren't anxious and weird to do their jobs. Get a woman who isn't too old to understand a computer and a phone. You're company is SHIT.

My 4 year old cat who has never had a health issue in his entire life suddenly had urinary blockage so I took his to this vet since I was new to the area and it was the closest I could get to. BIG FAT MISTAKE. His doctor barely talked to me before taking him off on an overnight stay- Which btw, they leave your animals unsupervised for 10-12 hours. My poor baby ripped out his catheter twice because the doctor didn't put a cone on him- Which they lied and said it wasn't common in the state to put one on so I HAD TO REQUEST ONE LIKE WTF. And they had the nerve to charge me $700 only for me to have to take him to another vet for them to fix what this vet fucked up. My cat suffered severe medical neglect here, and I do not recommend. My cat is on meds for the rest of his life because of their lack of care. I plan on suing.

All I can really say is I should've listened to my dog. He's NEVER growled at anyone since I've had him for 2 years and he growled at Dr. Davis, who I've now named Dr. Death. I came in to get a transfusion for my 4 week old puppy which made her come out of her condition and quick, but Dr. Death killed her by overdosing her on flea meds right after! We discussed the dosage in consult, but she ended up giving her 4 x's the amount because she "thought" it was ok because of her weight. Didn't take into consideration the trauma her little body had just gone through! Then I was charged double what she quoted me in the exam room and was never given an itemized receipt. When I called them the next day to tell her she was having seizures, they first told me they didn't have record of them giving her the pill, and then they said it was because she had other underlying conditions. Really?! That's why her healthy sister she instructed me to give a pill to had a seizure too,I assume?! I'm really not surprised this practice doesn't have anymore than 2 stars. Should not even be open to receive ANY stars! She killed my puppy and traumatized her dad! Never again will I ever step foot in this place and will warn everyone I know with animals to STAY AWAY!

dr beth wouldnt spend time just assumed it was allergies!! been my vet for over 20 years never again. it turned out to be seizures !!! do not go here!! go to elwood dr. laurel.

We have taken our dogs to Southway Animal Hospital for years now! We have always felt the staff there are kind, compassionate, and truly care about the animals they treat!
