“This place is the best! I'm literally leaving a review because I saw 3 one star reviews and I was astonished by them. This store not only actually helps people in need unlike goodwill where they don't pay their employees a decent wage and they keep most of their profits vs donating them to help others. Also this store does a great job of organizing their inventory they even have plain shirt color coordinated at the front it's awesome and easy to find whatever you want. I've never had any issue with their employees. They have always been nice and helpful when I needed their help. To sum it up this is probably my favorite thrift store in the area if not my favorite the only place that comes close is in Hammond which isn't exactly in the area but still the same county.”
“Gently used items at great prices. I appreciate the variety of items offered for sale and the fact that the store is very well lit with sufficient space to browse comfortably.”
“This place is really cool but if you don’t like rummaging through things or you’re looking for like a more polished store, you might not like this one. I personally thought it was an amazing store and the people who run it are so friendly and they’re willing to answer any questions or help you in anyway they can. This place is amazing. I love it and I’ve only been one time. I’m definitely coming back!”
“I love shopping here, they have so many things to buy and every aisle has something. It's very clean. The owner is very nice. I can always find something here”
“Great place to shop, with warm loving people willing to help you locate that perfect find. Take your time look around. You help yourself while helping others, how cool is that!”
“hearts in motion offers reasonable prices for their merchandise and their sales are awesome especially if they have fifty percent off. and always a very pleasant experience whenever we go there because you will always find quality merchandise at a great price”
“Always such a pleasure coming here! Not only do they stock unique and interesting items every week, but it’s all for a wonderful cause supporting animals in need. The staff is incredibly warm and welcoming — I always leave with a smile on my face. Special shoutout to Daniel at the front for being so attentive and kind. You can really tell everyone here cares, both about the mission and the people who walk through the door. Highly recommend stopping by! ?”
“This is the best resale shop around. Very clean and well organized. Great friendly staff. I have gotten some really nice things there and I don't feel like they are over priced. I am usually in there for awhile as there is so much to look at.”
“Like this place very much. all the big box places didn't have a stove in-stock to take-home at that very moment they did so they got the sale plus I bought an additional item because they had it in stock and big box didn't the people there were very helpful in loading my merchandise”
“Nice place. Has a nice variety of household items. Everything is of good quality. It's definitely a place that if you go and see something you like, you should get it as there is no guarantee it will be there later.”
“Nice small shop where it appears you can rent small booths to sell your things. Not many treasures to be found, but prices are mostly fair. Depends on the vendor, though. The back room is increasingly becoming a place to sell expired snacks.”
“They recently moved stuff around at the location, and I LOVE IT. theirs a better variety of clothing for the men, not only that but those shelves that had stuff on them don't look cluttered anymore and take up space. Im very satisfied.”
“The lady running the store is an angle she went out of her way to give me a deal. She was talking with customers the whole time and never stopped smiling. Please don’t believe that she is rude.”
“I normally find good things here and the staff is always nice to me. Lately though the prices are pretty expensive. It seems to be that way across all Goodwill locations in North West Indiana, but at this location specifically, I found a pair of levi’s jeans they marked up for $19.99 and that’s just not acceptable imo”

“When you arrive to the Goodwill Outlet be aware of the T- Shirt Gang that's there. They are a group of six to eight guys that surrounds the bins from all sides and stop the other customers from going to that bin.”
“Only reason I don’t give it a 5 is the prices. But the variety of clothing there. Wow! I’ve been thrifting 5+ years and all places have gone up in price. This place is following the trend/demand. Catch the sales! It’ll be worth it.”
“Jim is a hard worker and a real asset to the St. John Goodwill. His positive attitude is a breath of fresh air, and he always goes out of his way to help customers. You can tell he takes pride in his work and genuinely cares about making sure people have a good experience when they come into the store.
It’s not every day you run into someone with that kind of energy and work ethic. Jim is friendly, helpful, and keeps things moving while still making customers feel welcomed and appreciated. Employees like him really make a difference and are a big part of what keeps people coming back.”
“Some Goodwill’s you can walk into and find good stuff for a reasonable price and other ones you go in are horrific and you come out feeling like you need a shower. But my son is very much into shopping resale - it’s just something about their generation, they like to buy clothes from previous generations.
I find it a little humorous that if there’s a tag attached to anything that gets donated, they market at $8.99 even if the item itself wasn’t worth $8.99 to begin with. But during one of our looks at a Goodwill, I found a beautiful Coach purse for five dollars and it was actually a purse from the 80s. I did a little research on it so I was surprised to find out that it was pure leather, and the lining was in perfect condition. I like that because it’s a quality purse without having some designers name all over it. I really do not like being a billboard for companies that I’ve already bought something from them. It’s like being double taxed - I bought your shirt. Your shirt has your company’s name on the front of it. You’re getting free advertising from a person who just bought something from your store. You don’t need to advertise to people who are already buying your merchandise - so there’s another punch to the gut. It’s not like they’re advertising to me, but by me wearing it I get to become an ambassador to that product. That’s not always a great way to run your business.”
