Nobody looks at you. Nobody says thank you. No smiles. Must be a bad work culture.

I brought in clothes from my girls that cost $10-$20 a piece, they took 47 outfits and gave me $30. That’s .65 cents an outfit.. You’re better off selling these things on Poshmark/Facebook rummage.

Highly DO NOT recommend! Only thing that comes to mind when I hear Once Upon A Child… in Muncie. Shady, rude, and highly dissatisfied. Firstly, I want to acknowledge I am aware places like this have their policies for a reason but it’s a KIDS USED CLOTHING STORE seriously, come on!! IF ANYONE GETS THINGS COME UP IT SHOULD BE THEM! Life happens and most businesses understand there are exceptions to their policies. Also most employees are usually at least somewhat nice and understanding, even if there’s nothing they could do to change the situation.. but not this place. I was not even acknowledged when I first walked in and then when the girl finally told me to sign in I had no idea how to put my id in like she just made it clear she wasn't interested in helping me. I should have walked out then but I tried to be understanding and empathetic. I could see they were clearly busy and probably overworked and underpaid like most people these days. Anyways, I dropped my 3 huge bags of clothes off (filled with my kids outgrown shoes and clothes new w/tags and like new name brand clothing). They had just opened like an hour ago and were already so busy. They said it would be a 5 hour wait. So I left, went on about my day. My son ended up getting sick, literally throwing up so I got a little distracted and forgot to go back that night. The next day I called about picking up my bags, apologized for the inconvenience and tried to explain my son got sick and I totally spaced coming back for the clothes they didn’t wish to purchase. The girl was SO RUDE! Did not care to hear anything and she just told me they were giving me $50 in store credit and they had “donated” my items. I asked to speak to a manager and she claimed she was the manager. Wouldn’t give me a number but gave me a generic email address, that she changed up twice. First it was @gmail, then something else. I was just like ok. At that point I was so upset bc I felt like she really just didn’t care and she made me feel like I was inconveniencing her, even though she just got over on me. I’m not sure how they managed to swing that but they got me. I definitely feel like they robbed me, and even though they have their “policy” no one called me or anything. Clearly I never would just have left my things there, esp bc they were very nice, expensive, name brand items which included Nike, Adidas, Mk, carters… like the point is idc about any of that stuff or the money they stole. I don’t even want the $50 in store credit bc I will never step foot in that store again. It’s just the way people are running businesses these days are shady and not for the customers! So beware if you choose to sell to them, make sure nothing happens to keep you from picking your items up or they just “donate” your items without calling you or letting you know.

This store is one of the flying buttresses of our son's wardrobe and toy box. I think I trip on toys from here on most days. Friendly and great service, great selection, and great prices!

This is a good resource for Muncie. I bought several like-new outfits for my grandchild here. They have great inventory and I will definitely return.

They are very strange on what they will take & wont. One day it's one thing another day it's something else. When they are giving you back what they wouldn't take they are very rude. I lost my grand babies in a car accident and don't appreciate some of their comments. Don't ever say something you wouldn't want a customer to hear you never know what situation they are in. Funny thing is some items we had just bought from them and they wouldn't take them because they were out of style. I worked very hard washing and making sure the clothes had no stains. Plus they were all high end name brands. It didn't matter to this snooty woman and by the way. What she was wearing was out of style. Do unto others as you would have done to yourself.

I'm only giving 2 stars because the woman checking us out was really nice and caring. However my entire shopping experience was not of the greatest one. We decided to check out the grab bag for $20 as we had not even been to Once upon a child before, unfortunately the first experience was listening to a group of teenaged girls loudly speak about fighting another girl and fighting in general. These girls were behind the counter sorting clothes (7/7/23). The experience was about the same as setting at a lunch table with a bunch of abnoxious teenagers at high-school. I feel in such a place this type of conversation should have been held when customers wasn't in the building as the professionalism was completely oblivious. All in all teenager's will be teenagers but on a professional level the manager appread to be standing very close by and no one said a word to these girls to quiet down or discuss something else. All in all my experience was solely nonetheless an unprofessional and frankly down right distasteful shopping experience. Sadly this has caused us not to return.

If you’re planning on selling items here, DONT. I brought in 3 totes full of mostly toddler boy clothes, which if you shop here you know their toddler boy selection is very limited so I figured they would take a lot of it. All of it was name brand, Nike, carters, adidas, etc. Some of it had never been worn and still had tags on it, all of it came from a smoke free clean home. I spent the time at home to pull out anything that was damaged or stained to make it easier for the staff to go through. I was the second person in line to drop off items as soon as they opened. Took them 7 HOURS to go through my totes, and they took close to nothing. Nobody could give me a reason why they didn’t take it, I thought that was odd since they always have in the past. Get home and open my totes and most of it is all still folded exactly how I left it!! They only went through the stuff on the very top and didn’t even bother to look all the way through my stuff, let it sit there all day for nothing! Super lazy and inconsiderate staff. Safe yourself the time and go someplace else!!
