The location is secluded, with little road noise, offering a quiet atmosphere for events. The space itself is large enough to comfortably host around 70 guests downstairs, with plenty of room to walk around. Access to the venue begins at 1 pm on Friday, and the space can be used until Saturday evening or Sunday morning, depending on the booking. The staff and communication were praised for being friendly and professional, especially considering a change in ownership happened during the booking process, which was smoothly honored. The grounds and surroundings add to the appeal, with the lake and natural scenery enhancing the experience. However, there are some drawbacks. When arriving, the loft of the barn was filled with tables and chairs, leaving no clear space for a dance floor without rearranging furniture. The venue staff arrived late at night and insisted on the space being cleaned up and restored to the original arrangement, which was inconvenient. Some heaters didn't work, making it cold during winter, and propane tanks should have been available for warmth. The kitchen countertops were dirty, and the utility area was cluttered, providing little space for food storage. The refrigerator was not plugged in upon arrival, and there was no potable water, requiring couples to bring their own supplies and signs. The outdoor area had some gnats, and there were limited seating options, mainly just small benches. Additionally, there are no outlets in the hallway, which could be an area for improvement. Overall, The Old Barn offers a beautiful, secluded setting with potential, but attention to some logistical details could enhance the experience.
