Hate this place. Cannot get ahold of any office staff, maintenance does the best they can with what they have. Pool never opened in 25. So. Decide for yourself!!!!!!

The apartments aren't bad space wise or asthetically. You will have trouble mounting things on your wall. the pool never opened. There's no community engagement or events. Maintenance is truly awful and the worst part about this place. We have placed several work orders some for the lightbulbs in front and back of the apartment both have been closed with no resolution two times. When we rented the apartment we were told that we don't have to change the lightbulbs for the front or back porch area to just put a work order in this was later confirmed by maintenance themselves yet neither have been changed so we have no light in the front or back. We placed a work order for the kitchen one of the ceiling tiles is missing They wanted us to be home for it despite us marking on the work order that they can come in without is being there and that our dog would be put away. 2 weeks and my husband had to take a day off work for them to come measure the area and say they don't have the right size of tile and would need to cut it or order one. Then they said the tile isn't available anymore that they would have to cut it then they cut but apparently was not the right size so they wanted to come remeasure the size and then they called my husband to set a time and day for them to come out and he agreed took off work and they never showed. He called they said they just didn't get around to it and we haven't heard anything since then. Then most recently we placed a work order for the heater not working they at least came out for that day and fixed it or so we thought later that night it stopped working again. We called maintenance again on Friday and they said they would be right out to work on it. It's Sunday and still no heater. No call. No nothing. We have tried calling the office for help or to let them know our dog is locked up and maintenance can go in if we aren't there and they said ok but nothing changed. Basically unless you have time to take off work whenever you need maintenance to come out and knowing they might not even come out and furthermore they might not even fix the issue then I don't recommend. I'm so grateful it's not cold outside anymore for now and we can try to get another day off for maintenance to come out to fix it. otherwise me my husband and 2 kids would freeze. Also there are roaches. We don't even bother calling to get something done about it because I doubt they would care at this point if they don't care about my family even having a heater.

Would give this place zero stars if possible. Have lived here since July 2022 and it’s been nothing but problems. Management is a revolving door. GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING ON THE SPOT no matter what one person tells you. They like to mark issues as fixed in the portal without having stepped foot into your place. Have dealt with roaches, squirrels in the attic, mice in the living room, constant smoke through the walls, disrespectful druggie neighbors... This complex is a total waste. Would never recommend to anybody. Thank the lord we’ve moved out.

I’ve been living at The Monroe since late 2023, and to say it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster would be an understatement. Honestly, I do enjoy living here, but I can’t ignore the frustrations that have come with it.
First off, the property management has been a huge source of frustration. Kayla was by far the best person I dealt with—she actually got things done—but now she’s gone, and so is Olivia, who was another standout. It’s like there’s a revolving door of staff, and it feels like no one is really sticking around to address the ongoing issues. It honestly feels like the management group sets the property management up for failure—there’s just no continuity, and it’s making it hard to get anything resolved.
One of the biggest headaches for me was the HVAC system. It took all summer to get it fixed—after a lot of back-and-forth. At first, they tried to convince me it was working fine when it clearly wasn’t. Eventually, a new unit was installed, but honestly, it felt like pulling teeth to get it sorted out.
Then there’s the parking lot situation. The neighbors are fine, but the whole setup is a mess. There’s constantly cars being worked on, washed, or people cooking outside—which, by the way, is a lease violation. It’s frustrating to drive around the lot, especially when you have to cross the grassy median just to get out. I get that people have to do their own thing, but this is a rule that’s definitely being ignored, and it’s seriously annoying.
As for maintenance, I appreciate the team, but communication could really use some work. Most of them don’t speak much English, so it feels like the job gets rushed or isn’t done properly. They’re a small crew, and I get that they’re doing a lot, but sometimes it feels like they’re being asked to do too much with too little.
Also, the pool was open for about five minutes before the health department shut it down. If you were hoping to use it, don’t hold your breath.
At the end of the day, I do enjoy living here, but considering the rent they’re charging, Elmington really needs to put more money into maintaining the property and addressing these issues. There’s a lot of potential, but without proper investment, it’s hard to justify the price. If you’re looking for a smooth, no-hassle living situation, I’d keep looking—but if you’re willing to deal with some frustrations, it’s not all bad.

I moved here three weeks ago and love apartment. It has excellent air conditioning. Since it is winter, my apartment has been melted warm. Rents are very reasonable considering I came from high rent cost state.

I moved in The Monroe in October and Ive had nothing but good to say about this place. I have had a few maintenance issues come up and I let the office know and the maintenance man was at my apartment the next day and fixed every one of them. Maintenance is very friendly and on task immediately. The girls in the office, Kayla and Violetta are very sweet and caring. When I go to the office, they know me by name and welcome me in, like its their home. They always offer me coffee and a seat. They are always smiling and ask how I'm doing and any of my questions or concerns are addressed immediately. Im very happy and pleased to be a resident here at The Monroe.

Yes this is what your residents want at 8am on a Sunday.
When you put in a request for things, they do rush jobs and leave before you can say anything to them. So far two of the things I’ve put requests in for they marked complete but did something different. The maintenance men claim to only speak Spanish, but don’t wait for English only speakers to get a translator app to be able to speak back to them or understand what they say. It’s very rushed.
Pretty sure there are squirrels living in the roof of our building. (They sprayed my kitchen for bugs instead)

Nobody is ever in the office, nobody ever answers the phone, constant complaints that never get resolved, they see all these comments and say there doing there best to just do a terrible job, constantly lied to whatever you do don’t live here these aren’t Karen’s in the comments these are good genuine people that the Monroe treats like garbage and ignore. Ashame I’ve lived here for 3 years and every year is more clown makeup on my face for doing so definitely not renewing and have no hope for issues being resolved I’ll continue paying my outrages rent and ridiculous added fees until my lease is up. Only thing good about this place are the maintenance guys they try there best with the scraps that the Monroe provides.
