Keep looking. My mom broke her hip and was going to complete her rehab at The Villages at Historic Silvercrest. The photos and verbiage on the website looked like we were making a solid choice. What we were told: "When you arrive, you will meet with all of the department heads to make sure we are all on the same page regarding your mom's care."What we experienced: We arrived on Friday at 4:30. After a very kind woman transported my mom's belongings up to her room via a fancy hotel style transport cart, my mom's care ended. We were left alone in a dank cramped room. The bed was archaic, uncomfortable and crammed into a small space. It was so loud when we used the controls to put the head of the bed up, it was seriously questionable if it would support a human. The heater cooler was less than 12" from the bed and blowing right on my mom. The bathroom had nowhere to put anything, not even toothbrush and toothpaste.A brand new hire came to the room and tried to fill my request for a blanket and a couple extra pillows. She tried her best and I appreciated her efforts though she was unable to answer any questions or find some of the requested items. The nurse eventually arrived to have us fill out paperwork. The first question out of her mouth, "Do you have a DNR?" (Hardly a positive way to start a rehab program.) Her second request, "Here is a personal property list to fill out." "Sometimes things get stolen..." (!?!?! Already not a good vibe going on, but I am trying to keep an open mind.)There was no meeting with department heads and up to now, it didn't seem like anyone even cared my mom was there, much less ABOUT her care.I left with an uneasy feeling and unanswered questions.I called the nurses station Friday night to check on my mom and to ask what type of rehab she would be receiving over the weekend. I was told by the night nurse (keeping names out of this review as a courtesy) that no rehab would be given until Monday. She said she could have a CNA sit my mom in a chair over the weekend. (I found this response unacceptable as the hospital instructions stated that sitting idle was counter productive to successful rehab.) The chair in my mom's room was a straight, non-reclining wingback chair (my mom was to keep her foot elevated and this chair would not accomadate the hospital's instructions for her care. I was told that no one would be walking my mom or getting her moving until MONDAY. Depending on the time of her P.T. she would be idle for almost 3 days.Saturday morning. I arrived to check on my mom. My mom was lying, having slid down on the bed to an uncomfortable position, uncovered, with a diaper on, soaked through, and no pants anywhwere in sight. (she had pants on when I left, indicating that this was not the first time she was allowed to soak herself through to her clothes.") I asked my mom why she didn't push the call button. She said she did during the night but that it took forever for someone to come and that she knew I would be arriving to take care of her."My mom said that the gal came to clear her breakfast tray at 10:15 a.m. There was no tray to clear because at 10:15 a.m. she still had NOT received any breakfast. All of this was completely unacceptable. I decide to take my mom home and have in home P.T.The day nurse was very helpful and tried to reach out to the weekend Nurse Practitioner on call to have my mom discharged. The Nurse Practitioner lacked any compassion or empathy for the situation and was of no help. She said that she hadn't seen my mom therefore could not discharge her. (no one had seen my mom) I asked her if she would come in and see her so she could discharge her. She said, "No. I don't do rounds on the weekends."I ended up taking my mom home by signing an A.M.A. (against medical advice) discharge form.18 hours at Silvercrest was more than enough for anyone's loved one to have to endure.Do not be fooled by the fancy funeral home-esque decor of the facility. Keep looking for

My mother was there for an extra long time and I wasn't exactly sure why. She enjoyed the people, sometimes the food and activities. The place is clean as I visited a couple times a week and didn't have any issues. I found out Medicare is limited and they took most of her days away from her. She had a trip and fall a month or so after getting out and they denied her coming back unless we paid out of pocket. We had to pay out of pocket elsewhere. This was a very costly Christmas and depleted her and mine and my husband's savings. I'm not sure I would recommend.

Interesting that there is not one negative posting. Must be perfect in all accounts. Not exactly what I have been hearing.

I can’t say enough good things about the staff at Silvercrest. They took such great care of my grandmother with dementia. They treated her like she was their own family member. Nurses and CNAs truly are angels on earth.

My mother has been in and out of this place 3 times, each time coming home sick or unwell. Most recently, she informed us that neither of the nurses or aids had bathed her in at least 14 days. For her condition, daily hygiene is quite important, but they weren't doing it at Silvercrest. I've tried several times to reach out to the director, Tauri Harper, and the head nurse, Rebecca Bowling. Both refuse to call me back. Please be weary before sending your loved ones here.

This is an excellent facility. You feel like you are walking into a 5 star hotel. Staff is very friendly and call patients by name. They have good rehab. I have a family member recovering from a stroke that has been there for 3 weeks. It is clean, no nursing home smells. I highly recommend it.

Beautiful historic setting that was used as a TB hospital many, many years ago! The staff are wonderful for the most part- always a couple bad apples in every bunch, but 99.5% are very attentive and caring!

The facility and villas are nice. The maintenance staff is not very good at taking care of problems. They are not very responsive to requests. Other than that it is a nice place. Just not sure I would still recommend as highly as I would have .

How this place has great ratings is beyond me. It's a beautiful setting and nice facility...but other than that it's pretty awful. The care that is provided is mediocre. My grandmother was in and out of this place multiple times over the course of a year and it was a horrible experience for her.

There is so many grea things I can say about this place. It's a very beautiful building, the staff is friendly, the residents/patience look so happy and taken care of. This facility has serveral floors that are clean and doesn't have the horrible smells like most nursing facilities. The Halls are not filled up with different sorts of nursing equipment. The nursing stations are small and not stuck out like a sore thumb. The staff are dressed in polos and khakis- instead of them hospital feeling scrab uniforms. The campus is smoke free. The food is amazing. The dinning room is amazing. Its set up in a restaurant style dinning. There are several servers that take your order and serve you. It's like being in a fancy restaurant. There's none of them ugly food trays setting around everywhere. Overall I would stay here as a resident without any questions ask.
