Chupp´s Piano Service is a beautiful facility/operation all the way around. Everything Tip-Top. Very experienced and dedicated staff. Was reluctant to travel so far to look at instruments but realized during my first visit that they were serious people operating at the highest level who understood what I wanted. Although I was really interested in purchasing a D, there must have been over 20 restored Steinways in their showroom and I played everything just to check overall consistancy in preparation across all models. After 3 visits I selected a completely restored 1931 New York D from 5 available Ds, all of which were excellant. I thought that the 1931 piano would fit me and the room best of all. The piano was delivered 2 weeks later including new Steinway legs with concert casters and is truly my dream instrument. Many Thanks to the Chupp´s Team for everything!

It is scary to entrust a family heirloom, especially a Steinway built in 1899, to be restored. Chupp’s was very patient with me, as I checked references and asked lots of poignant questions. As a professional pianist, I wanted a great instrument that could be used, not a show piece. Chupp’s far exceeded my expectations. The finish was restored to its original mahogany, which is stunning. More importantly, the instrument itself was restored to play and sound like it did when it was first built in 1899. It is a joy to play. They even provided documentation for insurance coverage. I highly recommend Chupp’s, if you have a Steinway that needs restoration. Here are photos of the finished product.

I recently purchased a piano from Chupp's and was very happy with the experience. Dennis and Tim Chupp are highly knowledgeable, skilled, and friendly, and they have a world-class inventory of outstanding pianos. One facet of purchasing a piano through Chupp's that I very much appreciated was their "no pressure" approach: I arranged a showing in advance (outside of their normal hours, for which they were very accommodating), and when I arrived, they greeted me, showed me around the facility, and then "turned me loose" in the showroom, where I could play any piano, for as long as I'd like. In stark contrast to some other locations where the sales representatives may "hover," Tim and Dennis spent the time working on restorations in another room, so I truly had the showroom to myself. I really appreciated having the time to try each of their pianos, and to think through which one was the right one for me, without the pressure of a sales representative following me around.Once I had selected a piano, Tim and Dennis walked me through the whole process, from paperwork to delivery, and they patiently addressed all of my questions and concerns. After I left, Tim maintained constant communication until the piano was in my home. I am very happy with my purchase.Dennis and Tim are honest, open, and meticulous professionals, and I'll certainly consider them for any future pianos needs.

I had my 1927 Steinway Model M fully restored by Chupp's Piano Service. I had done tons of research to find the right company to do the restoration. The movers just delivered my piano this morning and i'm blown away. The quality is unreal. I went over the whole piano with a flashlight and couldn't find flaws. I'm beyond happy with my decision to use Chupp's. Excited to have my baby back home.

This is the Steinway piano heaven at the heart of the Midwest. I have never seen a finer showroom in America, full of pianos of astonishing quality and range. The rebuilds are of such precise craftsmanship, yet each instrument takes on a life of its own. Dennis Chupp—who has an incredible and international reputation for his work—and his dedicated team turn out the finest pianos I have ever played. Dennis and his son Tim happily engage in lengthy chats about all aspects of their work, and are generous in allowing the exploration of their showroom. They don’t push their customers; their pianos calmly speak for themselves. This place is a unique treasure—I try to pass through as often as I can, and recommend this as the very first place to look for Steinway and other rare instruments.

I recently took delivery of a 1911 Steinway B. This has been a dream of mine from 40 years ago. I have been playing for 55 years.I am overwhelmed and overjoyed with the results. The piano has been exquisitely restored in every possible way. I had my technician who is a Steinway expert with over 50 years experience carefully examine the piano from head to toe. After his examination, he looked at me and said " it doesn't get any better". Quite frankly, he was in awe of this world-class instrument. The piano is life changing for me and I am very grateful to have found Dennis and his team at Chupp's.

We had a wonderful experience with Chupp. When I first contacted Chupp I was put right through to Tim. We were looking for a Steinway Model B. When I told Tim this he told me about what pianos they had on hand as well as some that they knew they would soon be receiving. Chupp had 5 Steinway model Bs that they had or could have available in the next week. We agreed to time when our son, the pianist in the family, could come and try out the pianos. Tim and his father Dennis were both there when we arrived. It was later than their normal hours but they accommodated out late arrival meed. Our son played all 5 of the Steinway B models as well as several other Piano while we were there. Dennis and Tim were there the whole time, responding to any questions we had on each piano and offering suggestions on things to pay particular attention to. The showroom was great with well over 20 pianos on display. Being able to play such a wide variety of examples (5) of the specific model we preferred to purchase gave us additional confidence in our decision. One was a Hamburg model, which are fairly rare around here.We ultimately decided to get a 2001 model that was in super condition. We’ve been very happy since delivery one month ago. Tim walked us through every step of the way, the paperwork was easy. And The delivery of our new piano as well as the hauling away of our old piano at the same time could not have been easier. We highly recommend Chupp’s. We are enjoying our new piano every day.

Can’t say enough about how pleased my wife and I are with our Steinway. If you had told me we would purchase a piano of this caliber sight unseen over the internet I would have laughed, but that is exactly what we did. We trusted Tim and the Chupp’s team completely and were not disappointed. Our restored Golden Era grand was even better than we expected. Outstanding service and product.

Tim Chupp and his family and staff provided outstanding service for an absolutely beautiful Steinway, my family and I are thrilled with the piano. I had looked for months in my local city for a preowned Steinway, while simultaneously looking online at first for general comparison. At the start of my search, I never anticipated that I would actually purchase a grand piano without having played it in person first. However, Chupp's website provided a great deal of information about the company's history, evaluation and restoration process, and attention to quality. I found a Steinway that, compared to what I had found locally, seemed too good to be true for its price vs quality. I spoke several times with Tim Chupp, who kindly arranged a video conference and sent individual videos from the piano so I could see that the website images were not photoshopped. The sound from the double-mic recording turned out to be very true to the sound of the instrument. Tim was accessible and helpful throughout the process, and in helping to arrange a terrific piano mover to traverse the 2000+ miles the piano traveled to my home.On the day of arrival, admittedly I had butterflies in my stomach, wondering if I'd made a colossal mistake purchasing a piano online from so far away. However, immediately I heard that its tone quality is exquisite, even better than I'd heard in the recordings and very much the Steinway sound. Everything was just as described - the regulation, the pristine quality of all parts, the finish of the exterior.Tim Chupp mentioned that Chupp's Pianos does a majority of business online, and I can see why they are such a trusted, reputable source. I'm grateful for them guiding me through this process to a marvelous Steinway that will be in our family for decades to come.

Just a quick note in praise of the service we received. Our piano is a very old, non-Steinway, with a bit of history that made us think it was worth the cost of restoring it. And, it was not inexpensive! However, we have now received the finished piano, and it is lovely and just like new. With any luck, it will be another 70 years in the family! Chupp's was very flexible about our rather odd payment requirements (the piano in one country, and the payer in another!). Everything went smoothly and according to schedule, and we are completely satisfied.

My first experience of a Chupp's piano was at a friend's home. He had purchased a Steinway concert grand that was rebuilt by Chupp's. I was very impressed with the piano. It had the sound and action feel that I wanted in a grand piano. I continued my search for a Steinway grand. A few months later, I contacted Chupp's and discovered that a Steinway grand similar to my friends was in the rebuild process. Tim and Dennis answered all my questions, sent photos of the progress, and reserved the piano for a deposit. We discussed my playing and how I wanted the piano to look, sound, and play. As a result, they put on concert legs with the large castors and used a new style Renner hammer instead of the Steinway branded hammer. The piano was also voiced to match my requests. When I visited Chupp's to audition the piano, I could not have been more impressed. They allowed me all the time I needed to play and evaluate the piano. The work and craftsmanship are truly impressive. The fit and finish of the case makes the 80 year old piano look like it was freshly minted from the factory. The piano was completely rebuilt and restored. Fortunately, the original soundboard was intact; it was refinished and had decals applied. The rebuild was meticulously done with high quality parts and attention to detail. Every detail. The piano was prepped for shipping and arrived in the same condition it was in when I tried it out. I am very fortunate to have this type of instrument - it helps me play better and enjoy piano and music more and more. A lot of what I hear in recordings and performances by professionals is now available when I practice and play. A concert level instrument that has been rebuilt to this level of precision brings a new dimension and experience to playing. Sounds and effects I thought only professional concert pianists could achieve are possible. The piano allows dynamics from pppp to ffff. The sustains goes on and on and on and on and on and on. The treble has a wonderful bell and flute quality and sings, the mid-range is warm and has a rich presence, the bass is powerful, brassy, and has growl when needed. Needless to say, I am very happy with the Steinway I purchased from Chupp's and highly recommend their work. It is my dream piano come true. Thank you Tim, Dennis and the entire staff.
