I texted the number from the Craigslist ad with some questions. He ended up saying it's probably best if you just come in to look at them. I questioned him about what years, mileage, color and price of a couple i was considering and told him I'd go Monday to look at them. Monday morning I inquired about his address and drove 45 minutes to get there. Was nobody around so I texted to see if he was close so he could meet me. He tells me he's out of town for the week! I asked why he didn't tell me that either of the times I referenced coming on that day. No good answer. On top of that, the car he said he had in stock for the price he told me, he said it would be $500 more. He told me he had sold 4 over the weekend. Was mid day Saturday when I was corresponding with him...and I didn't think dealership were allowed to sell on sundays. Terrible experience. I'd suggest dealing with a more reputable person.

Found a silver Prius for sale on Craigslist and texted the number given. I texted him on a Thursday and didn't get a reply back until late Saturday night saying he was available Sunday. The picture of the car in the Craigslist ad was in front of a house, making it seem like it was being sold from the original owner. He texted us the address and we agreed to meet up at 11am. On our way there we texted him saying we would still be there at 11am, and he came back with “I won't be there until noon,†so thanks for the heads up when we were already on our way (an hour away). We googled the address to find out the persons name so we could see who we were dealing with at this point and it came up as a dealership. This dealership. Red flag number one. We looked at the cars around the lot and some of the Prius's had auctioneer writings on them so, red flag number two.

I dealt with Dave, and I saw an ad on craigslist for a 2001 Echo for $2500, which looked like a good buy...so I went and checked it out and looked good; he said all he knows it needs was a flex tube and its about a $60 fix to get it welded on...well he said we can take it for a ride and I said great...there's Hamilton's AutoShop a few blocks down I'm going to have them inspect...well I was looking at all of the positives...really want a compact reliable used car... Was having the mechanism checking it and received a message from Dave saying there are buyers here waiting to buy the car, and I'm like...ummm I'm getting it inspected cause I wanna buy the car. He was trying to rush me back and I was like I'm sorry they have the car up on their lift taking a look at it for me. Well then a red flag goes in my head...why was he trying to sell to another buyer if we have the car in our possession seeing if its mechanically sound. Then he was trying to rush the inspection, so I was curious as to the results...well the guys at Hamilton's quickly pointed out that I should let this one go. It had been running only a few minutes and there was oil leaking from the seal of the oil pan and they said this would be a costly fix. They would have to pull engine and tranny to be able to replace so it would be very costly. I thanked them for the assistance and took it back to Dave. I told him if he didn't already know he had this issue with this car. He wasn't happy to hear the news and said well I don't care I already have a buyer for this car. So I feel really bad if someone did just purchase this after us, because the expense for the work will double the cost they paid for it. Plus now he knows there's more then just a flex tube problem, and wasn't phased a bit to continue to sell the car to someone else. So I guess be careful...have Hamilton's check it out they're only about two blocks north.
