I have been coming to this salon on and off for years and I think it’s finally time to part ways. I live a few minutes away so the quick scheduling and convenience of the salon’s location were a major pros in coming here. A few years ago, the standards were much higher and the quality was better. This salon is too inconsistent these days and for the prices they charge, it is not worth it. A few months ago, my sister got married so my family and friends wanted to get our hair styled for her various bridal events. The first time I came in, my hair was beautifully curled and those curls lasted all night into the next day. Kudos to whoever did my hair that day, she did a great job. Since I was happy with the service, I rescheduled for the my sisters reception. The first issue was the price discrepancies. Wash and style are $35. When I called, the receptionist confirmed that I didn’t want any elaborate up dos or anything. I even confirmed with her on the phone saying that I was my hair pinned back with long flowy curls. Day of the appointment, my friend had her appt before mine. The junior stylist (I can only assume that she is a junior stylist) did not wash out all the shampoo from her hair… so that lead my appt to be late which no big deal. She got me washed and into the chair and I explained that I wanted my hair pinned back with curls. I’m not sure what these gen z stylists don’t understand about curls, they will try to put loose Utah curls in your hair. I do not want loose waves. I want big bouncy flowy curls. She then slicked back the front half of my hair and “teased” it. It was barely teased. At the register, my total was $75 and when asked why, the stylist said it was because she had done an elaborate hair style. I replied with, “you pulled my hair back and curled it…?” She went and talked to her manager and I was then charged $50 for I’m not even sure what. During this interaction, the stylist also mentioned that I also had long hair so they would need to charge more (which this was not disclosed, nor did I pay more for my long hair the previous time I got it styled). I went home and re-curled my hair. We just got back my sisters professional wedding photos and when I look at these pictures, all I can think about is how ugly and flat my hair looks. I am reminded of how terrible of a job this stylist did. I cannot get past the fact that my hair looked terrible and I could’ve done a better job. I still cannot get over the fact that I paid $50 to feel ugly. I have course hair so it’s fairly easy to style, even if you do nothing to my hair, it has volume. This stylist somehow managed to give me the flattest head. Whatever teasing she did, it did not last through the appointment or the night. I overlooked this huge red flag though. I needed a haircut so I called to schedule and the salon was able to get me in fairly quick. I requested a senior stylist and confirmed pricing over the phone. I requested a simple cut with long layers and face framing bangs. This cost $80. When I went home, after closer examination of my hair, there were no long layers and the face framing bangs were uneven. I cut my own bangs that night to make them even. Why in world am I paying $80 with a senior stylist to cut my own hair. Also, why can’t a senior stylist achieve that request?? I thought about calling to have my haircut adjusted but I do not wish to have any further services here. For anybody reading that made it this far, I would just double check pricing and who your stylist is. I now drive to Chicago to get my hair colored and cut. Quality, service, and price transparency have significantly gone down at this salon.

Marissa always does my hair & she does an amazing job every single time. I like to get my hair braided in the summer time & she does the best braids of anyone that’s ever braided my hair. She’s professional but still sweet & funny and I absolutely love her! Could not recommend more!

I've been going to Marissa Farmer for a while now, and I can’t say enough great things about her! She’s incredibly talented, always taking the time to make sure my hair turns out perfect. She's so kind, gentle, and genuinely cares about her clients. Her head massages are amazing — so relaxing! Every time I leave, I feel refreshed, confident, and absolutely loving my hair. I always get compliments afterward, which is such a nice bonus. Highly recommend!! :D

I used to go to this salon many years ago - loved my stylist - she moved to another state. So, I thought that I would go back and try someone else. I started back at Pure Concepts in Plainfield, March 2024. I asked for a specific stylist based on reviews. At my very first appointment I told her that I have too many bangs and wanted to let some grow out, I have told her that at every appointment I have had (4). I usually get my hair cut every 4 weeks, but have been letting it grow out for a style I wanted for a special occasion in August, so have been going every 6 weeks. Went yesterday, first thing I said, again, as I have every time, I want some of my bangs to grow out, and every time she cuts them off. So, now I have bangs that are as thick as Davie from the 1960’s show the Monkeys. Plus as an extra bonus I have these 2 pointy sides. When you pay $85 for a shampoo and cut, no that doesn’t even include the tip, you should expect a decent hair cut. Now I will have to scramble to find someone to fix this mess before Saturday for a special event.
