German American, specifically the Sellersburg branch, unfortunately let my account fall... completely... through the cracks. There were existing issues with my account and I made several attempts by phone (to my branch) to resolve it as soon as possible and to know my options. I was promised by this Sellersburg employee that they would "look into it" and get back with me ASAP. However, several weeks passed with no contact from my branch. I gained a new employer. After the necessary headache of providing direct deposit information to my new employer; German American then told me (after I called them) that my payroll was literally, floating in the ether of their system, with no account to post it to. Why? The young man that was supposed to follow up with me said, and I quote, "Oh, well I think, your account is actually closed now..." I was with this bank for 13 YEARS, going back to before German American bought out the previous bank. **This is unacceptable** There was absolutely NO attempt to contact me. No phone call, voicemail, letter, email or even a text message to notify me I technically didn't have a bank account anymore. However -- the main reason I'm leaving a poor review, is not the fact that my account was closed without notifying -- it's that I received no apology or recognition of wrong doing from the employee at the Sellersburg branch. The employee in charge at this branch was constantly stumbling over their words, making it very obvious they had little understanding of their own policies. Someone did not fulfill their promise to a customer, all I wanted was a "sorry". Instead they chose to cover their own tracks rather than make a situation right. ... I had to receive my payroll from my employer in the form of a Cashier's Check. Ridiculous. A POSITIVE however: "Chris" who handled my calls at the customer service center was extremely professional, kind and considerate. Thank you to those guys over there for your time. You're the reason it's 2 stars and not 1. -Elizabeth (a Chase customer)
