My Experience at Meijer Gas Station
I went to the Meijer gas station to get gas, a bag of cinnamon bears, and a lottery ticket. The young Hispanic clerk rang me up. When I asked for the lottery ticket, he told me it had to be a separate transaction. I told him that I understood and would pay cash.
First, I tapped my card to pay for the gas and candy. Then I pulled out $2 in cash for the lottery ticket. I received a receipt for the gas and candy, and I handed him cash for the ticket.
Later, I got home and saw a notification on my phone: a $2 pending card charge from Meijer gas station. That meant I had been charged on my card for the ticket even though I paid in cash.
I went back to the store, but the first clerk was gone. A heavier-set Hispanic clerk came over, and when I explained what happened, he immediately got defensive. He argued with me, insisting that what I described was “not possible” and even accused me of sticking my card in the machine. I told him flat-out: I always tap to pay — I never insert when tap is available.
I told him to pull the cameras and watch the transaction. Why would I pay extra for a $2 ticket? He continued to argue, but I stood my ground. Eventually, he gave me the $2 back.
My biggest concern: How many other customers have been double charged and never noticed? If I hadn’t been watching my account, I would have lost money.
Moving forward, I will always request a receipt for every transaction, no matter how small. I hope they actually review the footage and take this seriously.
To anyone reading: always double-check your receipts and your bank statements after paying at gas stations. Mistakes (or worse, hustles) can happen fast.

The blk girl who works mornings like 730am is very rude and doesnt help, greet and shouldnt be there if she doesnt want to deal with peoplem i will find out her name and update this. Im tired of going in and just having terrible customer service

Customer Service Definitely Does NOT Matter Here! Airen, Is Especially A Very Very Rude Individual...She Was Tapping On The Register While Assisting Me, That Was Uber Professional! Instead of Rushing Customers And Acting Like You're Doing Us A Favor, Have Some Grace, Act Like Human Beings, AND Maybe Clean Up That Filthy Store!

I try not to come here. They need to scan your driver's license every time you want a pack of cigarettes, lottery, etc. Then yesterday a rude cashier.
