Rented a truck online a week ago, showed up to pick it up and they didn't have any available. Offered no solutions, just wasted my time.

******READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO RENT HERE****** Just don't ever rent or drop off at this location. They told me that the vichele was not topped off. I got charged 30$ plus $26.89 for the gas, knowing damn well that the truck was full. The guy was extremely rude, and he never called back, yet he charged my card. Please do and treat people better in the future.

So the owner told me I was free to show up and see what happens after he cancelled my rental 10 minutes AFTER closing time today (the day before my move). Guess I'll see you over the weekend buddy ? Bless your heart - hopefully you have a way to back up that mouth.Incase you didn't grasp what the start of this post meant - this location is run by a POS. While many budgets are great, avoid this one like the plague. Who cancels 3+ rentals (as he admitted, not me) AFTER close on a Friday and tries to tell you how much they care ?♂️.

The gentleman who helped me rent the truck was very nice and helpful, pleasant pick-up experience. I wish he would have warned me about the Merrillville location, the site says they accept after hours drop-offs, but they do not. I wouldn't have made this reservation if I had known that. I have no complaints about the Valpo location, but the website was very deceptive about Merrillville.

I was supposed to pick up my Budget rental truck (which I reserved 2 months ago) this morning. Literally 10 minutes before my pick-up time, I received a call informing me that my reservation could not be honored, as they had no trucks of that size or larger available. After some searching, they told me that there were no trucks of the size I reserved within 400 miles. The soonest I can get a truck from them is 12 days from now! They offered me a cargo van. I'll admit that I lost my temper at that point - to which the man at Budget said, "the cargo van is no longer available to you" and hung up. But not before he told me that if I had carefully read the reservation agreement, it said that Budget does NOT actually GUARANTEE that the truck you are reserving will be available to you. When I called U-Haul to reserve a truck instead, they told me they get this call a lot. They provided excellent service! Do yourself a favor and start with a company other than Budget, or when your moving day arrives, you might have no truck at all!

Always rented all my large truck local rentals from here. Always busy. Always very patient with me. Trucks did exactly what I wanted them to do. I always rented the largest truck available. One time they did not have a truck available so they rented me one with an electric lift gate at no additional cost. I will say that the electric lift gate made my move so much easier since every time I move I seem to get the hottest days. Local business and I like to support local businesses. If you get a diesel truck take it to a truck stop to fill up and go through the semi filling area. You will need to go inside and get the pump turned on and you you need the DOT number that is on the side of the truck. You will pay less most gas stations that do not specialize in diesel.

We rented a truck to move over a weekend. First, they rented us a defective truck. The pull out ramp had one side broken. We first noticed this when we tried to pull it out the first time. By the time we were done, we had to literally get underneath the truck and inch by inch put the ramp back under the truck. When we returned the to get our deposit back the guy told my wife, "Oh, I see the OTHER SIDE FINALLY BROKE!" Meaning to me that he knew he rented us a broken truck to begin with! Wow! Isn't that nice customer service! We turned in the truck on a Sunday evening as instructed. On Monday, we get back the part of the deposit and an itemized bill of sale. As we look over it when we get home, we notice that it has a $10.00 charge for "Cleaning of the truck". Now, we made sure the truck was clean inside and out, so I called to inquire as to why there was this charge on our bill and this is what I was told: (no kidding and this is not a lie) "Well, we did not like where you parked the truck. We had to come into the shop last night and we noticed you parked it in the back and it inconvenienced us, so that is why we charged you the $10 fee!" Enough said... I would advice going somewhere else where they care enough about you to give you equipment that works and they do not make unnecessary charges to you for silly things just to make extra money in the hopes you won't look at your bill. This place is a joke and they give Budget a bad name! BTW: I called Budget corporate and filed a complaint and they are giving me my $10 back. They were embarrassed!
