I love shopping, browsing, reading labels, looking at the new products that just came out, trying samples to find out the smell, texture and if maybe my skin will have a bad reaction. Because of this it’s nothing for me to spend a hour or two browsing around. I’m 49, I look and dress like a quality person. But EVERY single time I’m in this store I’m followed around and asked if I need help. And I mean the whole sales floor will come up to me within minutes back to back asking me, after telling each employee no five times. I’m browsing and filling up my basket of items to purchase they’d get the hint and let me shop i peace. I give them my reward information every time so they know who I am and that I’m almost at diamond status.My only other complaint is this location is always out of products. It never fails, 95% of the time it won’t be there. Or the fact that you’ll sell certain products but only online. How am I supposed to know if I’ll like the product this way? And where is your Bobbi Brown section? Are you discontinuing their line?

Absolutely horrible color was a joke got a brown blob in the middle of my platinum hair in the roots not even an inch asked for balayage fyi then the cut I said a trim was trying to grow out my hair 2 inches isn’t a trim I can’t even get all my hair into a clip now just the worst cut and color nothing can fix this I went home and bleached it out nothing I can do about the massive cut so unhappy why do stylists think it’s ok to cut so much off a trim is not 2 inches just horrible my advice don’t go there was trying something new never again

I'm a male. I've been shopping at Ulta for years for certain products and have a charge card here. The Merrillville/Hobart location is great. This Valparaiso location shopping for certain products as a male is horrible when it comes to restocking products. Not to add I was told they could order items at the same price when out. When I went to proceed with ordering a item I needed bc I had been buying that item... Over a two month period. Until there products were dusty and I bought the item I wanted out. (in which they didn't restock) they proceeded to try to charge me more for the listed price of the item (false advertising) and the lady at the check out register proceeded to tell me "I couldn't change the online prices if I wanted to". This is not only bad business practice. But it was bad service. She did not even attempt to talk to her manager or proceed to try to resolve the issue. All around terrible service, and bad service. I don't know if it's because I was a male shopper but honestly I felt almost completely disregarded as a customer when I have been shopping here for over a decade. Disgusting.

Lmao not them deleting my review because they are terrible people but this place is racist. They kept an employee who followed a person of color and her daughter around the store and implied they were stealing and made them cry the managers do nothing all day, except complain about how their employees aren't getting enough cards when they do absolutely nothing. One of my employees have touched my hair without my consent. And they did nothing about it. Some of my coworkers there also were homophobic the managers there I'm just convinced just don't like Black people because they would pass people of color off to me because I literally was the only person of color working there and would say and I quote from one of my co workers " I don't know how to deal with that textured hair" they are not about diversity. They will look over an application of a person of color so quick. The general manager is literally the most two-faced person ever there's nothing but drama at the store and everyone constantly talk shit about each other would not recommend going here unless you want to be racially profiled or treated like trash. They also talked crap about me and my mother when we were not present in the store, imagine being 40 years old talking about people younger than you they have zero lives and get entertainment from treating their employees like crap don't apply here don't shop here. You won't have a good experience.anyways lmao

I visit Ulta very often, and the employees are normally very welcoming and helpful. Today, however, I overheard managers and employees talking very disrespectful about a certain employee about the fact that she was unable to come in today. We are in the midst of a snowstorm, and the entire county is on weather watch. Apparently her calling off because she was unable to make the over 30 minute drive to work was unacceptable. Shame on all the employees involved in that discussion. If they are willing to put their employees lives in danger it really shows their priorities.

Do not (attempt) to get your hair done here. Fair warning!My daughter has Short anagen syndrome (SAS), a condition in which hair does not grow long. Now it will take years to regrow the little hair she can grow back to no layers! And when I do not agree to pastel purple that you won't be able to see in dark blonde hair, I'm now paying for a service no one can even see! Neither can she!I've left here twice with the same brassy tones in my hair that I paid to remove and a haircut for almost $60, which amounted to not even a straight cut off the bottom, nothing more. I'm glad I quit while I was ahead and didn't opt for the layering that "I wanted", she didn't even want to blow dry it.So $250 for a Sunday at the salon with my daughter and we walked out worse than when we went in!I will never go back to an Ulta ever!Don't say a word when your hair turns out wrong because they only agree with each other, the problem is... you can't see these fabulous results and the results desired are impossible!When I came home, my husband asked if I chose not to have my hair done, direct proof of NO fabulous results, not any results at all. What a dreadful waste of money on all accounts!!

I met a very helpful worker here who was able to help me with my makeup concerns as well as color matching my skin tone. I’d been recommended a sort of expensive brand of foundation online (Dermablend) and she was able to help me decide if it was the right product for me. She also made sure I was aware of their return policy in case I wasn’t happy with the makeup I bought after I left the store. Also I’m so glad they carry Truly Beauty products, my favorite line of luxury skin care!
