I always purchase plants here but lately they have only had one person running a register with a line and long wait time.

I went to Lowe's this morning around 11, and found the store fairly empty maybe because of the weather. I was looking for a sprinkler for a small outdoor garden and a battery tester for AA batteries. The first encounter I had was with a salesperson in lawn and garden. She was about 15 feet ahead of me walking away. I kept saying miss, miss, but was ignored till I raised my voice uncomfortably so. She looked befuddled when I asked where the sprinklers might be. She hailed another coworker, and asked her where a sprinkler for a water bed was. I left her and went to the gray haired woman in lawn and garden, and told her I needed a sprinkler for a small garden. She took me to the greenhouse outside and showed me a shelf that I was unable to see with my bifocals with no less than 6 different watering devices most of which were attached to a stake and would water my garden with such a force that it would destroy it. She didn't bother to explain the merchandise or help me, and instead turned away from me and headed to the cash register. I turned around and asked the same woman which sprinkler did she think would best suit my needs? She did come back to stare at the sprinklers but that was all. Luckily, there was a male customer that helped discuss my options and I selected a small plastic sprinkler with wheels. I headed back to customer service and found another salesperson and asked him where I might find a battery tester. He didn't ask me any questions and took me to the aisle with the car battery chargers. I explained to him, that I was looking for a battery tester for AA batteries. He found a heavyset saleswoman with shoulder length dark hair who looked the item up on her handheld device, and said that they didn't stock it at this store. I disagreed and went to customer service and asked them where I might find this rare and precious unicorn that came in the form of a battery tester. Again, no one asked what I was testing specifically, and then the word voltage was mentioned. I then asked if they had a voltage tester in the store. A younger heavyset man and an older fellow with a flannel shirt and the heavyset woman with dark hair brown who previously told me that the store didn't stock battery testers said that they were on aisle 14a. I looked at the young heavyset gentleman and said, "come on, let's go", to which he replied, "why me?" I had to explain to him that A) I didn't know how to work them, B) I wouldn't know a battery tester if I fell over one, and C) I didn't know where aisle 14a was. I was stunned me when he said that because he was doing absolutely nothing at the customer service desk. On aisle 14a there are indeed many many voltage testers for electrical outlets. Mr industrious asked for someone from the electrical dept to join us once I found the item online at Lowe's no less!!! Then mr electrical dept was able to locate the item after I gave him the item number and the price, even though mr industrious insisted the store didn't have it because there was only one listed in the store again according to his handheld device. I wish I could say this is an isolated incident, but a couple of weeks ago, I bought a drying rack at the same store and the cashier asked me what the drying rack was. Seriously he said that. So, my encounters here with salespeople here have been about 50/50. I do have a problem when salespeople don't ask me specifically what I need or even tell me that the item I'm looking for isn't in the store and it is only through pure stubbornness/perseverance that I'm able to locate the item despite the assistance of the store's salespersons. Sadly, this is poor management, or possibly frequent staff turnover, or maybe just over reliance on handheld devices, but that is no excuse for not training staff properly to be good helpers and knowledgeable about products found in the store. I dare say that about half ur customers are going to need assistance, especially in a store such as Walmart or Lowe's
