Carniceria San Jose is a one hundred percent Mexican store and authentic Mexican restaurant tucked away in the back of a small grocery store. It is considered the best and most authentic in town, with a great atmosphere and excellent, friendly staff. The menu is a handwritten poster board, and the portions are generous. The food is fresh and very good, including outstanding authentic tacos like al pastor and lengua, a very good steak burrito, and weekend menudo or posole. The daily special is a steal. The salsa is the perfect hotness. The front is a well-stocked meat market selling items like fresh arracherra steak and marinated chicken wings, with fresh Mexican pan dulce right next to it. It is a top ten place to eat in the area.
