I have a family member living here. I was told that trash has not been emptied in awhile, so trash was building up in the trash chute higher than the sixth floor.

Worst management ever. They deactivated ac in all units starting from October so it's going to be super hot (they still charge you for utilities even though you can't turn on the ac)

They are money hungry and will find ways to take your money even though you move out. Reasons include:1) Rent increase every year. I have lived in the same one bedroom apartment (roughly 300+ sq ft) for the last 4 years, from Aug. 2019 to July 2023. My initial rent was around $1,490 a month, which has since risen to about $1,899 a month in 2022. The final offer they gave me was about $2,100.2) Insane move out charges. This is my current issue with RISE and they have since escalated me to collections. End August, I was given a bill that required me to pay for various charges. Firstly, they charged a $50 trash out fee as well as a $150 ‘common area cleaning’ fee. I have since agreed with the trash fees as I left some cleaning supplies in the house when I moved out. I have also agreed to pay for the bathroom cleaning fee of $50. However, they also tacked on a $50 ‘blind replacement fee’, $531.65 ‘couch replace’ fee and a $50 carpet cleaning fee. While there are some scuffs on the couch, as well as some bent blinds, I feel like the blinds and couch are definitely not worth that much. When I argued that the couch and blinds are subjected to normal wear and tear (keep in mind that I lived there for 4 years), they argued against the fact. I have also attached images of the couch, blinds and the little spot on the carpet that needed to be ‘cleaned’.3) They take forever to fix your appliances. I had a washing machine that was broken, and they took over a month to fix it. Other issues include weak AC/heat, which will always take about a week to resolve.4) The elevator is ALWAYS broken. Every couple of weeks one elevator is out of service. Moreover, it always smells like puke and beer (although that’s usually the result of residents).5) The parking garage door is always broken (The parking garage door is broken for about a quarter of a year). This negates the security of having a private access parking garage (which I paid $100 each month for). Some residents had their cars broken into. I’ve heard that it is usually the fault of some resident driving into the door, but in the end, it is still the responsibility of RISE to fix it. They have once left the garage door broken for 2-3 months.6) Every amenity is closed. I’ve stayed here long enough to see them close the swimming pool because of ‘bad residents’. Amenities are usually closed for most of the year. They would open the pool up for a month and then close it for another month.7) The trash chute is always backed up. Yeah, I understand that some residents jam up the place, but the trash room is usually full on Sunday. Management makes us bring the rubbish outside and always threatens to fine us.8) This pertains more to the individual that I dealt with when I was disputing my move out charges. While I did take a while to reply to them (I did not expect them to send me an email a month after I handed over my keys), the individual on the other end was not helpful and was rude. When I asked her to give me receipts of the original couch (back in 2019) and the new couch they bought, I was immediately told that my case has been referred to collections.9) The walls are PAPER THIN. You can hear music every weekend because some kids would be partying.10) For some reason, the fire alarm will turn on every single moment, especially back in the summer of 2022. I remembered that the fire alarm rang every single day back in the spring-summer of 2022, and half of the time the fire alarm only rang in the apartments on our floor. Fire alarms would also ring biweekly during the winter. Sometimes they would turn the alarm off, only to have it ring again about 20 mins later. Most of the time they tell us that it is because the breaker tripped, or it was a false alarm. It’s gotten so common that I would walk straight out of the building and wait in Mcdonalds until they resolve the issue.11) Packages are left on the counter of the mail room. Anyone can take any package that they want. I’ve had my package stolen right from the mail room and they can’t do anything about it.

Rise is advertised as a beautiful place to live with amazing amenities and the tour goes on and on about all of the benefits of living here. I was ecstatic to sign my lease and start living here (very expensive lease at that for a studio). For starters they only had a 2 bed model and I was living in a studio and had no concept of the space I would be given other than a vague blueprint. I called over the summer to confirm it was furnished and spoke with someone named drew about if I had barstool seating or a couch and he said studios came with both-wrong. The only place to sit here is at my desk chair. Other than misleading information, when I moved in the place was disgusting and hadn’t been touched since the previous tenant. I was missing a cabinet door, broken glass in the drawer, garbage in the drawer and on the floors, enough dryer lint to burn the whole building down, and scuffs and dirt all over the wall, hair on the walls, shower, fridge, sink etc. on the first night my key fob wouldn’t let me into the building at midnight at I had to wait for security to help get me into my room. The AC doesn’t work, neither does my dryer. There was a $200 redecorating fee which I was told would cover cleaning for when I was moving in as well as minor repairs, when I spoke to the front desk about this, she told me it was only for cleaning scuffs on the wall and I couldn’t get that fee back even though my room was disgusting and I did have scuffs on the wall.

Really deplorable state of the building and apartments. There’s mildew, ants, flies and mold in the apartments. They don’t fix things and when you ask for things to be cleaned they tell you to do it yourself even though they are supposed to do it before move-in. They’re pool gets shut down because they fail inspections for cleanliness and the management doesn’t take responsibility for their mistakes. The most they will ever offer you is a 15$ target gift card for broken appliances, windows, and paint all over the floor in addition to infestations and unclean environments. The only reason they get away with this is because of the housing shortage. With the new apartment buildings opening I recommend living there.

Lived here for a year- maintenance wasn't good when I moved in, but has drastically changed in February. Loved my unit- floor to ceiling windows are awesome. great off campus choice

This apartment is the poster child for looking good from the outside to draw people in, just to tragically disappoint once you've signed your way-too-expensive lease. Unfortunately, I fell for the trap and lived here for a year. Between the insane prices and fines, perpetually broken amenities, lazy/rude management, cardboard walls/doors, and general lack of care for their tenants, you would have an extremely hard time finding a worse way to waste your money at Purdue. The one good thing about this apartment is the location, since I only had to walk 2 minutes to Harry's where I could drink to forget I lived in the dumpster fire that is Rise. Save your money and live in Chauncey Square Apartments instead.

After living here for a year, this is the breakdown of pros and cons:Pros:-Location-Gorgeous view - key point: IF you have a CORNER UNIT - floor to ceiling windows in the living room. The other units without the view are dingy / low light / depressing. Or blocked lighting from surrounding building(s). See Cons-Service dog in management's office - OMG cutest dog I have yet cuddled.Cons:-Thin walls in units-Trash chutes stink and permeates into the halls (24/7) and are closed off during move in-Carpets are not maintained in the public areas - entrance, halls-Pool is only open 3 (yes THREE) months out of the year. And those 3 months are mostly when school is out. June - September. The pool MIGHT be open Labor Day but they will close it if there are too many people.-Common areas are often closed for "maintenance" and closed for long periods of time.-Entrance to elevator stinks but scents are often blown/sprayed to mask it.-Front office management is kind/friendly in person but emails/phone calls are not returned. Concerns/questions are not addressed or resolved.-Coffee machine in lobby - DOES NOT work or they only turn it on when management wants it on / impress incoming renters.-There is false security being anyone can walk in and out of the building and access the floors through the stairwell.-Parking is also not secure since gate is broken and not repaired (over a month and still broken)-Construction next to Rise is LOUD especially if your unit is on that side and congestion trying to drive around / get into parking structure. (This will intensify during 2023-24 school year)-After 2024 and on . . . views will be of buildings on 2 sides of Rise.

I am a student at Purdue and attended the housing fair today. I was going to inquire about apartments and asked for a t shirt and was told I couldn’t have one until the end of the fair. Then she ended up giving them away to a group of other students. I just thought that was rude.

If you're too lazy to read all of this, to put it short, DO NOT live here. I don't even know where to begin with the monstrosity that is Rise on Chauncey. The staff... I've encountered more warmth and friendliness from a swarm of angry bees. The so-called "customer service" is an oxymoron, as the staff members seem to take pleasure in ignoring your concerns and making you feel like a burden. I once asked for help with a maintenance issue, and they never responded. They sit in the office all day either shooting the breeze, or being on their phones. The hidden fees are insanity. It's like they have a secret society dedicated to inventing new charges. Cleaning fees no matter how well your apartment looks, fees for not returning rubber bracelets, and more. I wouldn't be surprised if they charged us for the privilege of looking out the window. Clean? No. Walking up the stairs felt like wading through Shrek's swamp. I swear, the mold and grime have formed a symbiotic relationship with the walls, and they've become best buddies. The trash chute would pile up so high the halls began to reek. Imagine a 30 ft column of trash rotting in the center of the building. When you move in, you'll get to see all the remnants of the previous tenants' existence, as they don't clean between tenants. The whole place is an ode to filth. Can't forget the disappearing amenities. Some were closed during hours they were supposed to be open. I'll never forget when I couldn't get access to one of the outdoor decks, but I look out and see the staff members bathing in the sunlight. They use the "closed" amenities for themselves. The outdoor decks were "under construction" the whole school year. I suspect the construction was merely a ruse to cover up their incompetence and lack of funds. It's amazing how construction can drag on for months and yet not a single tool is ever lifted. The walls are paper-thin, the appliances are relics from the Stone Age, and the "demo room" is nothing like the room you'll be living in. I can guarantee all the positive reviews on here are fake. Read through them yourselves, it's likely the greedy owners of this building using multiple accounts. I know I'll get a lazy response from the owner to this review, but nothing they can do will change my mind on this atrocity of a building. If you have even an ounce of self-respect or regard for your sanity, run far away from Rise on Chauncey. Save yourself the agony and find a cardboard box to live in; it'll be a more pleasant and sanitary experience.

Horrible. Horrible. Horrible management.- non response. Ignore email.- horrible trash service. Once a month the halls smell horrible- repair/maintenance team are rude and unqualified - apartments are DIRTY. They do not paint or clean between tenants- management hires fleets of interns that acts as sales people. They will tell you lies about amenities and apartments.- halls smell horrible- elevators are slow and often broke. Prepare an extra 5 minutes to get to class- the demo they show you is not what you actually get- they take away pool access for EVERYONE at the slightest rule break- many amenities have been broken for 6+ months- the windows only open 3 inches- they lease your email out to hoardes of advertisers- constant advertisements in elevators and communal areas Please, save yourself.

I would recommend living ANYWHERE except for rise. They overcharge you for EVERYTHING. The walls are paper thin as well as constantly getting blocked into the parking garage and staff that doesn’t respond to your emails. The hallways are covered in stains as well as the apartments. There were brown rust stains on my shower, sink, and toilet that still didn’t come off after scrubbing them. Oh and dirty pipe water drips onto my car every single morning in my assigned parking spot. Do not live here it is cheap and overpriced and in general just low quality, as well as impossible to get help from the staff. Save your money and live at the Hub.

The washing machine ripped my clothes and the dryer doesn’t dry you have to use it twice. I went downstairs and everyone’s packages were left in the open over the weekend by the front desk. Anyone could take them or steal them. If they lose your package good luck ever getting it back. They don’t take responsibility for lost packages they blame the delivery service even though it’s their poor management system of package deliveries that causes them to be lost. I had two packages delivered to my apartment that were not mine. At aspire you had to show your ID to get packages from the front desk which was much more secure. They never pick up the phone even though when you go downstairs they’re all there. I went in the elevator once and there was throw up in it and it wasn’t cleaned all day to the point where when I used the elevator again it had dried up on the floor. I called their help desk once and they didn’t pick up, so I went downstairs only to find five girls sitting talking to each other doing nothing in the management office. I lived at aspire before here and the management would always pick up, the washer and dryer units were nicer and bigger, maintence came immediately. I submitted a maintence request last week and it’s sunday they still aren’t here. I pay so much a month for them to never pick up and never show up and for my clothes to be ripped apart by the washing machine.

I love living at Rise! The amenities are amazing and so fun to use. My apartment is everything I could want and more, I have plenty of space for all stuff within my bedroom. The staff is amazing and extremely accommodating and helpful to any questions that I might have!

I loveee Rise! The amenities and the staff are exceptional! It’s the best place to live. The pool and the 2nd-floor study are my favorite amenities. The staff is also very helpful and maintenance is quick!
