“I've adopted two amazing dogs from here, and it included follow-up vet care for both of them. The Animal Control Officer, Officer Joe Sheets, often takes a lot of flack because he's one man trying to run the shelter as just one part of his Animal Control duties, and doing so on an extremely limited budget. I've never met an Animal Control officer who cares more about animals than Officer Sheets. The shelter is top notch, but dramatically underfunded and understaffed. Other than Officer Sheets, everyone working there are volunteers. If you try to visit and no one is there, it is because no volunteers were available that day and Officer Sheets is running around Winchester and Randolph County taking care of animal complaints, making rescues, and other animal related issues. He has to personally take every animal for vet care, too. He makes sure nothing is overlooked. If you need the Animal Control Officer and he's not at the shelter and can't answer the phone, just call the police non-emergency line. Or, stop by the police station located inside city hall behind the fire station. They will get your message to him to help make an appointment to visit the shelter.”
“I felt really down going into tractor supply. I always liked taking our dog with me. I had to get items to bury our family dog. Chris Martin greeted me as I walked in and Chris was super friendly. He talked with me and made me feel so much better! I don’t believe in coincidences and I believe God put him in front of me to help me see that we still have amazing people on this earth to help us get thru tough times. To make this world a better place. I will do my best to go to tractor supply “first” in the future and I told my friends at church tonight about Chris and his kind words. Thank you very much for having great people at Tractor Supply!”
