I visited on Friday around 11am to send off three packages. The clerk assisted me in sending the package and then provided me postage and instructions for sending the letters. The post office was not busy when I visited. :)

Canal Street Post Office is a gem, it's the embodiment of change in the neighborhood and the world at large. Most noticeably the racial mix of the personel from white and black to black and Asian, sometimes the transition appeared to be bumpy. one thing remains consistent, it's always a surprise not to get yelled at. Recently I went to pick up the mail and watched this young blackman, a custodian and clearly resentful at the job, acting extremely aggressively bordering violent towards one of his Chinese colleagues behind the window, in front of the customers. It was quite alarming.Having read about the uncertain fate of this post office, this adds more feeling of doom and chaos to the possible end of an era.

Came in here tonight to purchase 20 POST CARD STAMPS and 10 REGULAR stamps. The gentleman behind the counter repeatedly acted like he had no clue what I was asking for so he got his supervisor/manger, said person came over and said "look were out of post card stamps ok" in a VERY LOUD AUTHORITIVE yet CONDECENDING manner, I replied "how can the post office be out of stamp, he replied "look are you stupid I just told you were out".Yeah that happened. I guess now I understand what this location had such a poor rating, that guy...

There's a great Art Deco relief sculpture as you walk in, but you can't count on decent service here unfortunately. The last time I got counter service, there was a female postal worker of Asian descent who screamed at me for no other reason than to vent her lack of options in life, I think. It was truly over the top.

FedEx sent me to this location last Thursday to send two packages. The contrast between customer service was night and day. I refuse to return to this hellscape despite its very convenient location in my neighborhood. There is no one there to assist clueless customers like me with anything which makes the process arduous and painful. That is then doubled when going up the service desk and dealing with the miserable people who work there. I politely went to the window with my packages and told her I also needed to pay for the packing tape (yes, you have to pay for packing tape here) before she loudly interrupted me yelling "ONE AT A TIME!" over and over. Meaning slide each package though the window onto the scale. So bizarre. The window was so small, my package didn't even fit. Dreadful place with dreadful workers. New Yorkers deserve better.

Traveling, brought too much. This PO near my hotel. Wanted to send a box of clothing home but the reviews scared me. I had to continue to EU so had to get stuff out of my suitcase. This PO let me use an old box vs buying one, helped me label and send across the country using cheapest slowest service. Arrived perfectly within 3 days. Read the negative reviews before deciding. I found this USPS PO fabulous.

I am a credentialed Investigative Journalist, so this review is going to be very thorough and very detailed to hopefully prevent you from going ballistic, because the U.S.P.S., in totality, is in such a bad way these days. Let me be frank, the 350 Canal Street U.S.P.S. Post Office is possibly the worse U.S.P.S. Post Office in all of New York City (and that's extremely disturbing, indeed)! Ironically, it is one of two U.S.P.S. Post Offices with purview over the most expensive zip code in N.Y.C., zip code 10013. That's right, your eyes are not deceiving you! (The other U.S.P.S. Post Office with purview over the tony 10013 zip code is located at 6 Doyers Street, Manhattan, New York 10013, and I can't speak about their service because I have not been there yet.) Anyway, I actually have a annually purchased U.S.P.S. P.O. Box at the 350 Canal Street U.S.P.S. Post Office, AND THE EMPLOYEES ARE ALWAYS STEALING MY MAIL. I kid you not! They have nothing but ghetto and uncouth employees at the 350 Canal Street U.S.P.S. Post Office and they are always extraordinarily rude and abusive towards customers -- BUT ALL THESE EXTREMELY RUDE AND ABUSIVE U.S.P.S. EMPLOYEES ARE PROTECTED BY THE UNION AND CAN'T BE FIRED, NO MATTER HOW OUTRAGEOUSLY UNPROFESSIONAL THEIR BEHAVIOR AND CONDUCT! The current U.S.P.S., in totality, is a complete and total nightmare and you can lay the blame wholly on the U.S.P.S. Postal Employees Union for consistently and chronically protecting its thuggish employees! If you ever ask to speak to a manager about such thuggish behavior of its U.S.P.S. employees, you will be bold-faced lied to and told that the "manager isn't in today" and then summarily dismissed by the surly U.S.P.S. employee. I have filed countless formal complaints with the U.S.P.S. Postal Inspection Service (the U.S.P.S. Postal Police), because U.S.P.S. Mail Theft is a federal crime, and I have filed countless formal complaints with the U.S.P.S. Inspector General against the 350 Canal Street U.S.P.S. Post Office and that fact alone should be great forewarning to AVOID THIS U.S.P.S. POST OFFICE LIKE THE PLAGUE! The 350 Canal Street U.S.P.S. Post Office's ghetto and uncouth employees will steal your mail and think nothing of smirking while they tell you that you can't do anything about it; thanks to the disgusting fact they are always protected by the U.S.P.S. Postal Employees Union.

The post office randomly delivered other people's mail to my PO Box. Neither of these pieces of mail were mine.

I was in here a few weeks ago and still think about how good my experience was. Peter was super knowledgeable and fast. He was also patient, to the point that he didn't even blink when the man in front of me yelled and cursed at him. Also, shipping my package here was $30 cheaper than at FedEx, and at least some of the clerks are bilingual. Show this place some love. They deserve it.

I've had my PO Box here for many years (since the Prince Street Station closed). Postal workers have been friendly although there is some line-waiting. But, it's worth noting the heroic kindness I saw by one postal clerk working the window in the PO Box room. He suddenly held up a "wait a minute" finger, ran out of his little supply room, up to the front door, helped a woman lower a baby carriage down a few steps to street level, then ran back to continue working. It only took a couple minutes, but it was a wonderfully human/humane gesture.

I came here to get postage for a package. The post office is spacious and has the lines clearly denoted. However, every time I come here there is only one person working at a time. And they are very slow. So, something that should be in and out would take longer.

This is my favorite post office! For the most part the experience of going to the post office is an unpleasant errand that no one wants to deal with, yes there will be a line, yes it will probably be confusing, BUT the people who work at this post office are wonderful and I come here to see them because it makes the whole experience of doing a chore less of a chore! I run a small business and I am in the post office at least once a week to mail out my orders and they always are happy to see me, no matter how many mistakes on forms I make, or how many packages I have to mail out. I enjoy the community feeling of seeing the same friendly faces, which in a big city doesn't happen often. on a side note, I'm shocked at the bad reviews, I've never had an issue here. I'm really grateful that we have the postal service at all, I wish the employees received better treatment, we are all doing are best, it's the most affordable way to send mail, can we have a little more compassion and gratitude?

Usually have a great experience but today in the afternoon was the second time I saw an employee not wear his mask while working with customers. Please ensure all precautions are taken for customers to feel safe doing business here.

I have been fighting with this post office and its staff since Tuesday 10/20 i tried calling on Monday 10/19 at their normal business hours but no one picked up the phone. I was suppose to receive a package coming Apopka, Florida which this post office located on Canal street states my package was delivered @ 11:54am on 10/19 and when i went downstairs there was nothing in my mailbox nor left behind in the building. I spoke with a manager finally on Tuesday 10/20 after been calling since Monday i explained my situation and she stated she will call me back, i did not get a call back but @ 7pm on 10/20 she had the delivery mailman come into my office to tell me he did not see a package downstairs with my name on it and will try finding more information for me and will get back to me Wednesday 10/21. I however called the post office back on Wednesday 10/21 around 1pm because i have not gotten a call back. I spoke with the same supervisor and she told me she has not spoken to her driver yet to see what was going on and she will call me soon as she touches base with him. It is now Thursday and at 1:11pm the supervisor calls me to tell me that my package was in fact delivered she can see the details on her end. I'm explaining to her that there was nothing left in my mailbox nor left behind in my building, i also spoke with my neighbors who rent on the same floor as my place of employment and no one seen a package that belonged to me, the neighbor who resides next door to me in 4B went downstairs with me to check the lobby and her mailbox and there was nothing left in her mailbox with my name on it, i explained to the supervisor i have worked in this building for 4 years we don't steal or take no ones packages, ups and fed ex delivers here just fine and i don't ever have my packages missing. She told me in a nasty tone " I'm not Ups so don't compare me to Ups". First of all i was not comparing Usps to Ups i was simply trying to say that this is a rare situation because packages that were "quote on quote" delivered never went missing from any of those delivery carriers so it should not go missing from USPS if it was "Delivered". She kept on insisting that her driver delivered the package and asked if there were any cameras in my building and if there was not then to make a police report and file a claim online because there was nothing she can do, she said have a nice day and hung up. She was very ghetto and nasty, she was not professional at all and not very helpful she did not care about my concern on my package and basically want me to be like ok my package is lost, gone, missing deal with it. I do not like this post office and will make sure to NEVER order to my place of employment so i can never deal with these people ever again. Next step is to make a complaint with the higher end about this individual and my situation.

It's pretty simple, these people are losers in life, and this is the only job they can get, and they reflect their misery on to you cause it's all they have, they want the customer to get angry at them, it almost feeds there soul. It's probably the only excitement they get throughout the wastefulness of there life. Bottom line, they deserve this job.
