Hi, could I have the manager of the smith street location get a hold of me sometime over an incident at the store this morning? I had a 50 dollar bill I literally pulled out of the bank yesterday that passed the marker test be refused because it had no security stripe. I told her that is on the newer fifties this one is from 1988. Instead of calling a manager, asking the police to come look at it, or anything else she just refused me even after I looked it up and showed her the year the security stripe and double face thing happened to the bills and mine was a 1988 bill. I left crying my eyes out embarrassed and afraid I couldn’t feed my children. I went straight to another bank and authenticated the bill. I called her back and calmly tried to just explain that maybe they need more training and I’m sorry I left my groceries at the checkout I was just so horribly embarrassed and in a panic about the food. She never apologized, she never offered to have someone call me, never tried to better the situation. Just said “If I take a 50 without a security stripe I lose my job”. If this is true that’s outrageous and they need to be taught the difference between a real older bill and a fake one. I am so loyal to this dollar general especially because of the older lady that works a lot at night, and because they always have what I need. I spend hundreds there all the time, sometimes buy all my groceries there. This was a horrible experience and I just want a message back from someone please. I even understand if she was being cautious and said I can’t take it without my manager here to verify, or I’m so sorry my hands are tied but please see my manager at this time. But there was nothing. To me this isn’t the friendly local dollar general I know these stores to be. I don’t want to go again because I’m so embarrassed and there was nothing delicacy or empathy or professionalism in handling it.
