About Amana Colonies
The Amana Colonies offer a unique history and culture found nowhere else in the world. The seven villages encourage visitors to step away from today’s busy pace. They can relish locally crafted furniture, meet many artists, sample hearty foods, locally crafted beer and wine, or simply stroll down the quiet streets. Visitors find fascinating history, great food, and shopping. The town itself is amazing, with an added ambience during events like Oktoberfest, which brings German culture to life. The General Store is amazing and huge, with lots of nooks and crannies. The Meat Store is excellent, and there are shops full of handmade items including iron work, pottery, handwork, fabric, and food. The bakery, fudge, and popcorn are amazing. Eating at places like the Ox Yoke Inn provides delicious, hearty meals like beets and sauerkraut or catfish. A wonderful night can be had at accommodations like the Hotel Millwright, noted for very clean and beautiful atmosphere with large rooms. It is recommended to stop by the Visitor Center and take the van tour to explain the long history. The Amana Colonies have something for everyone, with friendly people ensuring visitors will not be disappointed and will plan to return.

An authentic German village. Oktoberfest second to none. General store, eateries, and brewhauses as legit as they get. Go now. Actually don't. This is by little town slice of heaven.
