They replaced the doors on our storage units. They cut our locks to access the units for said door replacement. Would not allow us to be there or move to another unit prior to them doing this work. Trash was left in our unit by the door replacement crew. screws were left everywhere. Oil pan thrown on kitchen stuff and 2 totes and now the floor as well as a projector screen. Broken glass tea container. Bent pan. Broken vacuum seal bag. Fragile boxes under heavy boxes just tossed around, vacuum broken from a box falling on it. Promised keys to be mailed right after door replacement then 2 weeks later then still not mailed I had to meet the lady at the office that is unoccupied normally and she was an hour late. She also told me that had she been talking to me rather than the GM she would have said she would never mail the keys. Told by customer support there could be no refund on the month we prepaid even though if we had the keys when we weee supposed to we would not have paid that. We started moving things to a new facility the same day we got our keys and gained access to our u it after a month of being locked out because of their negligence. Customer service is absolutely atrocious!

Renting in Ames where all the units recently got new doors and locks. Can’t get a hold of anyone to get our new keys! Been calling for a week and either been getting hung up on or told to call another number. Still locked out of unit! Horrible experience.

Had a little trouble with a reservation but Morgan did a phenomenal job taking care of us during this stressful moving time! She was able to get us a unit next day! Very thankful for her communication and quickness! Thank you Morgan!

Renting the unit was easy, and had same-day move in. My only complaints are that the unit was absolutely FULL of spiders, and that they included a lock but didn't give me the combo. The customer service was super friendly and gave me the lock combo over the phone, so it all worked out in the end. Slightly more than I wanted to pay for a small storage space like this, but prices are up for everyone, so I can't really be picky. The only way to get something cheaper would be to go to Boone or Huxley.Overall, other than the spiders, I'm super happy.

DISGUSTING! My unit had a bird living in it, along with a puddle of water and mold growing on the lower 10" of the wall. It was also filled with cobwebs, BIRD FECES, and dead insects. Electric was out even not up to code.Red Dot had no smaller units available and they REFUSED TO UPGRADE ME FREE OF CHARGE. They wanted me to pay the difference for the larger unit.Their "customer service" is a phone number to a call center out-of-state. They had not one person on site and could not get a "property manager" to meet with me for 3 days.I had to scramble to find another storage unit for my college student. We live 5 hours from Ames, and it was our only day to move. I was lucky to find a nearby competitor with 1 unit remaining. It ended up being a blessing as Red Dot should be condemned. I have followed up with the BBB.I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU STAY FAR AWAY FROM RED DOT. I BOOKED ONLINE WITH DOING MY RESEARCH. DO YOURS!

1st day I went to move into my unit. There was about a one and a 1/2 2 inch gap at the bottom of the door letting in easily.

I drove to the rental location but was not able to find my assigned unit . Called Red Dot for a schematic of the buildings but apparently they don't have one. A bit frustrating
