My husband and I stayed one night in room 121 August 10, 2023 checked out August 11, 2023. We traveled for over 15 hours and was completely exhausedWe had just fallen asleep and got a call from the front desk at 10:45 PM asking if we had pets, and we replied no. First off that's rude and second off, disturbing the peace. We will never stay there again. Plus y'all need to fix that AC unit, because when the compressor in it kicks off and on it sounds like a door slamming and no dead bolts for proper protection. Never ever will we stay there again.

Our room had something splattered all over on of the walls, the sheets and bedspread had several stains on them. The fridge looks in rough shape on the outside and then it was frosted over and had brown stuff in it. And when we asked for extra towels we had to return the used ones to get new ones and they only gave us enough for 3 people after we told them there were 4 of us. We were told that we could still only have 3.

Not the best place I have stayed at. They really need to upgrade. Do some remodeling, but you get what you pay for.

Stayed there for several months while looking for a new place. Great staff. Provided any accommodations I requested. Cleaning staff also very friendly, and never touched any of my valuables I left in my room. I could leave cash out and it went untouched.

Restaurants nearby. Other than that this is the worst hotel I’ve stayed at. And I travel for work across the U.S. Don’t use the bathroom because they won’t give you soap. And the fire alarms might hang from the ceiling and randomly beep at you.Safety: Fire alarms aren’t functioning. Don’t bring your children here.

The room looked freshly updated, and was very clean. It had nice clean white linens throughout, but no towel bars/hooks. The shower was spotless and shining, but slick! No grab bar or no-slip shower strips. The door did not have a security latch and was missing a section of door trim.I was charged a $25 CASH pet fee for my ESA/dog on arrival. I made a note that I was bringing my dog in my reservation. I had to go out for the cash and the desk clerk required me to pay before her shift ended. I was not given a receipt and she only scribbled out the word "not" on my copy of the reservation check in prepaid receipt. ?Walkability: Close to several convenience stores and restaurants.

Excellent location, so easy to find. Staff were friendly and the room was perfect. I am giving this 4 stars because the hallway and stairway looked as if they had not been vacuumed in weeks.

This was by far one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in! Convenient location; website says "pet friendly" but that's far from true! Sign at door says "pets welcome WITH PERMISSION"; when I told the front desk clerk I was traveling w/ a service dog, he wanted me to pay the $25 pet fee in CASH (claimed he couldn't add to reservation!?!). There is NOT supposed to be a charge for service animals as they are NOT pets! When I pointed this out, he got defensive...Best to just apologize & say you don't know the ADA rules that apply to your business. Instead, he asked me to lie if the Mgr asked me any questions in the AM. Noted, Comforter was stained when I entered the room! Yuck! Very tiny bathroom! Not a tissue to be found in the room. Everything was very worn & tired looking. Can't believe Wyndam supports this hotel's crappy parking lot, carpet & room conditions.

Bed had no comforter, sheets were worn and almost torn in a large spot. AC is too loud and didn’t keep the room very cool. Looks like they are trying to get a remodel done on the place but aren’t keeping the guest areas clear, the north stairwell is littered with drywall and other construction debris. The remodeling that you can tell has been done is shoddy work, the caulking around the ‘new’ tub (still partially had the sticker on it) wasn’t cleaned up well, gaps were no gaps should be. Overall very unhappy with this experience would not stay here again, would not recommend

Room was dated but spacious. The bed was comfortable with extra pillows. Unfortunately the aircond was noisy and kept me up all night. Light was not fully working with clogged basin which drained sloowwwly.Renovation happening on the opposite wing with paint smell along the corridor. The coffee and breakfast (packed pastry) was available. Not worthy of the value paid but had no option of stay nearby Ames due to high demand during the graduation weekend.

Edit: Their response is honestly infuriating. They are accusing me of theft that I didn't do! There is nothing to investigate, I didn take anything of the hotels out if that room!! They stole money from me after checking out. I got a notification from my credit card that they charged me an extra $100 for a "missing" mattress protector or something like that. The receptionist that I spoke to told me the maid claimed it was missing. I didn't take ANYTHING that weren't my own personal belongings. Do not stay here, just spend the extra money and book with an honest hotel.

The owner was rude. If it was not for his wife helping me I would have lost $100 cash deposit. There were two other times that I had to argue with him over that deposit. The last straw was when I pre paid in cash for for additional 4 days. On the very last day he came to me and said I had to pay another day, which I had already paid for. I showed him the receipt that showed me paying for my room that morning. I then came back later in the evening and paid for 4 additional days after finding out that we were not leaving for work tell Monday. After showing him both receipts he still continue to argue with me that I did not pay. Once again if it was not for his wife I would have been screwed out of another $75. The rooms were fine, but I would not recommend this hotel due to rude and incompetent owner.

Better off across the street at the Comfort Inn.I needed a cheap room for a couple nights and generally have no issue staying at a budget motel like the Days Inn. I pre booked my room and arrived at midnight. The front door was locked and the front desk attendant was asleep. I knocked on the door but was unable to wake them. I called the front desk and was able to rouse them. Apparently a power short earlier in the evening caused the computers to malfunction. It took 20 minutes to check in. I then walked to my room and was greeted by ceiling plaster broken and on the floor and water dripping from the ceiling on to the carpet. I alerted the front desk attendant who was shocked at the discovery of the water. The next day I went to work and when I returned I asked the front desk for money back, or to allow me to go to the Comfort Inn. The front desk person called the owner with my request. According to the owner, water dripping and ceiling plaster on the carpet ARE NORMAL, and because it was after checkout time, I would be charged full price for both nights of my reservation. After a second call to the owner, they offered a $20 discount for one night. Conceding that this was the best deal that I was going to receive, I took it. To add insult to injury, as I walked back to my room, I discovered that the rooms immediately surrounding mine are currently being renovated. Nothing better after a short night, and a long day of work on the road, than coming back to the sounds of a construction crew renovating the adjacent hotel rooms. In summary, do yourself a favor and learn from my mistake, do not stay at the Days Inn in Ankeny, IA.
