The school does have a lot to offer as a stepping stone, but trying to get in contact with any school officials or get any information is almost impossible. Waited 2 hours on hold to have them not even answer me. Along with my counselor being rude, unsupportive, and flat out not helpful to the point where I would leave with 100 more questions. They definitely need to work on their communication with their students and making sure things are able to work more smoothly.

Xray program is absolutely outstanding. The ultrasound program is trash along with its instructors who tell you it's a self guided course and value friendships with clinicals sites vs reprimanding them for using students as free employees when short-staffed. Denied broken vaginal probes usage along with other unethical behavior. Don't waste your time or money. Find a program who wants you to succeed and with actually give you a study guide vs telling you that takes up too much of there time with class only 1 day a week

I can’t speak for in person classes but the online classes are trash. Professors are largely absent, provide broken links and materials, as well as reuse assignments - some of which are up to ten years old. Additionally, it’s painfully obvious that half of the instructors reuse old instructor content. Lazy. I pay extra for online classes because of my work schedule. Most of them don’t respond to emails and wait forever to grade, so you’re stuck for half the semester not even knowing what your grade is. If you decide to take online classes with this school, be prepared to teach yourself EVERYTHING. I would have been better off going to the library and checking out a book I didn’t want to read. One of my professors lazily assigned 700 pages worth of online content to read in a week, and further exasperated the ridiculousness of the class by giving ball breakingly hard and ambiguous quizzes and assignments. This is not a me problem, this is a problem with the school. I have a 4.0 in spite of these awful instructors, not because of them. To give credit where it’s due, the intro to chem teacher is thoughtful, patient, interactive, knowledgeable, and provides many resources. He’s great. Instructor Hill for the EHS program is great as well and I have learned a lot from him, and I attribute that to his involvement with his students and he also has extensive knowledge on the topics he teaches as well as many respectable qualifications. The rest have been awful. I suggest taking in person classes if you can, otherwise go to a different school. These people are ridiculous, the courses are garbage, not to mention a colossal waste of time and money.

Ultrasound program is garbage. You pay to teach yourself. Xray program is amazing! Xray educators really want you to succeed.

Instructors feeling pressured by administration to create easier course loads respond by making it harder, giving the middle finger to students in the process. 16 week classes condensed into 8 week classes so they could market "graduate in 6 months!" certificate programs that won't educate students on course material.
EICC does not want students to succeed, they only want their money.

So clearly there have been some online instructors that gave other students a hard time, and I would echo another reviewer to say that those complaints should be taken BEYOND the school in order for them to feel it.
HOWEVER, I must say that the CULINARY department is AMAZING!! They have so much equipment in their commercial kitchen that it made me drool! My daughter did a "Taste Buds" program through Scott. Let me tell you, the head of that program gave each child individual attention and really get to know them! They're about to expand out to Davenport schools and have them come in weekly rather than monthly, for the Taste Buds program. They may have a little larger group of kids, so I don't know if he'll end up stretched thin, but you can tell he really cares about them all!

I regret to say that my experience at Scott Community College was extremely disappointing. This institution demonstrates a blatant disregard for the mental health and well-being of its students. There is a concerning lack of support and resources for students struggling with mental health issues, leaving many feeling isolated and overwhelmed. Moreover, the quality of education suffers due to the college's practice of outsourcing subpar curriculums. These curriculums are poorly designed and fail to adequately prepare students for their future careers. Despite this glaring flaw, the college seems unable or unwilling to make any meaningful changes to improve the situation.Furthermore, most of the teaching staff appears to be more concerned with following pre-scripted curriculums rather than providing engaging and personalized instruction. This results in a learning environment where students feel like they are simply going through the motions, with little opportunity for meaningful interaction or growth. Additionally, the grading system seems unfairly balanced with some classes, with exams and tests comprising an unjustly high percentage of the final grade. In light of these issues, I strongly advise prospective students to steer clear of Scott Community College. The lack of support for mental health, the outsourcing of inadequate curriculums, and the uninspired teaching methods make it a poor choice for anyone seeking a quality education and a supportive learning environment.

Gave me the runaround after I’ve done everything they asked. They cancelled my classes the day before I was supposed to start saying they needed payment even tho I got approved for financial aid, and was able to receive my books. DO NOT COME HERE

I'm in my last semester at Scott pursuing an AAS degree in IT with a programming focus. I have learned so much about computer programming from this school. The skills I learned here have helped me to land a part-time student job at John Deere where I use my coding skills daily. I know that it can be hard to find knowledgeable computer programming instructors since the software engineering jobs are abundant and very high paying. However, the instructors at Scott seem to be very knowledgeable for the most part. I have connected with many instructors on a deep level and I have made many friends in my classes. I would definitely recommend this college over other area community colleges. I went one semester at Blackhawk and my experience at Scott has been so much better.

I was trying to transfer from Black Hawk to Scott, but employees were not really helpful and very rude on the phone.

Horrible curriculum. They would rather spend their money on a coffee bar than spend money to improve the education. Outdated books, outsourced education, and everything is auto-graded. Do not spend a single cent on your education here. They will not give a single care about your concerns.

Scott Community College is a great place to learn, they are very accommodating and have some of the best teachers I have had. I would recommend this to anyone who is thinking about college because it is great for an undergraduate or associate's degree.
